They turned down Gary years ago, why hire him now when his success level had dropped off relatively?

There has always been off the court issues with Linc, I wonder if this is what caught up to him?
I'm relieved that the program now has the opportunity to hire someone with an organized thought process who will build a program on more than a series of gimmicks.
An odd, but exciting, time to be a Phoenix fan.

You’re welcome everyone. It appears the school takes great pride in the opinions of this great board. They didn’t want a riot! Justice has prevailed.
In all seriousness I hope it’s not because they are moving to D-2 due to budget reasons. If that is the case they’ve lost me and probably what little is left of their fan base. I follow D-1 schools.
Soderberg is hot trash. I’d be fine with Gary.
I think it’s a foregone conclusion Amari is gone now sadly unless they keep a former Linc assistant.

I don’t know enough about Soderberg to have an informed opinion, but I can’t say I’d be thrilled with a Grzesk hire, at least at this point. Former players of his that I talked to really didn’t like him, nor find him easy to work with. They said he is a great basketball mind, and he gets results, but I think we would have to battle a revolving door roster wise with him, just as we have with Linc. If a player falls out of favor with Gary, even if it’s for one game or practice, it changes their career trajectory.

You’re not going to get a straight answer from J, just that “I know things that I won’t say.” Yup, commenting on the issues won't be part of the solution, so I won't be commenting. All of that is in the past. Now, will the AD contend "just cause" in the firing, and withhold future payments to the former coach? I have no idea. I've been disconnected from the situation the last few years.

No idea who will even be on roster next year, or who will coach this team. Or if they will even have a season. Sports is just a small part of what is going on in the world right now but this situation is still sad.

Maybe Dicks going to come out of retirement! Or Bo!
If they aren’t going to d-2 or Linc didn’t do something bad this is the only other explanation.
The firing is appropriate. The timing is not.

If a player falls out of favor with Gary, even if it’s for one game or practice, it changes their career trajectory. There's also a huge group of former players who'd go through hell for Gary. Not saying he's a sure fire candidate, but he'll have his supporters. There will be an exciting list of potential coaches. Don't fret about player turnover, just hire the right coach.
