Chris Bready told me he was waiting until uwgb extended his scholarship. You might be right I didn’t think transfers had to have there scholarships extended maybe someone on here knows about this. But he said he wants to play for uwgb to come back to his home state. Think the ship has sailed on Chris. Should of accepted the scholarship in February when offered.

Why are they banking the last scholarship? Is it going to someone else?

I thought that Green Bay extended an offer to him in February. I think for most schools are done recruiting for 2022. Now I think i is up to him to make it happen. He would be a great addition to this team. What makes you think that they are banking that last scholarship? It has always been hard to find recruiting information since this coaching search took over. Maybe they want to make sure the have a scholarship for Jeremy Lorenz, he seems like a high priority since they offered him early. If it were me I would take a chance and give it to Zane Short. Better to give it to someone you know wants to be here.

Zane short hasn’t even played in a game yet. It was in a Green Bay press gazette article that he is a walk on so he is not the last scholarship.

I know what the press gazette article said. I do like the makeup of this roster it has a good balance of freshman and jc players, but there are players here who didn't get much attention during the recruiting process and might be using this year to get more attention for next year. Zane Short wants to be here and wants to be a leader on this team. The other player who wants to lead also is Garren Davis. This is what this team has been missing for years. Why not take a chance and give him a scholarship?

Maybe they are banking that last scholarship. There is difference between Zane short and Nate Jenkins and Lucas Stieber. Stieber and Jenkins are at least ok players not great athletes. I have never seen Zane Short play. But after major injuries he probably is not the same kind of athlete. Usually walk ons get scholarships because of there play in practice and in games is only may let’s wait until the first game in November against Indiana state until zane short will be considered for a scholarship next year or this year if players leave during the year.

I know that he has to prove he can stay healthy before he gets a scholarship. I get that. If you read that article you can see what he brings to the table. Maybe I am his only fan here but I do think that he will be a big part of the rotation at some point this season. Zane is going to be the hardest worker on this team and to be honest you have not seen any of the new guys play yet.

What do you mean I have not seen any of the new guys play yet? Yeah no one has that’s what makes them new guys. If it has to do with waiting until November games well it makes sense. Uwgb is not great they could be banking the last scholarship.

If someone really good comes along before school starts it gives them room to make the addition.
Otherwise they likely recruited the guys they need to round out the roster and in their mind be competitive.
Adding a guy now who isn't cleary better than the guys they already have likely just adds to the new world of roster churn every spring.
They can use the scholarship for Lorenz, add a mid year transfer when other teams likely don't have scholarships or give it to a walk on for the second semester if someone is really making an impact.
I would like to see them add a walk on PG and a walk on big to give them 15 guys for practice. I am not sure what his plans are but Gavin McGrath seems like a walk on big.

I did not know gavin was in the transfer portal. Uwgb has not a walk on big since Brian Wardle days so that would be great. Gavin was aau teammates with Brock and Cade so he would make sense that uwgb would want him as a walk on big.

I could see him at a number of MN based D2's or going JUCO. I like him as a walk on and if he improves enough a future scholarship guy. I'd imagine he has some experience playing with Brayden as well. Overall if he wants to play D1 coming to GB would give him plenty of practice reps against other bigger guys that he probably feels comfortable playing with. His build and perimeter game will need to catch up to his height but IMO I think he would be interesting to watch develop.

With the transfer portal there is more attrition then ever in college basketball, so at this point you have to assume players will leave at the end of every year. That said, I think they bank the scholarship. No players on this roster will be exhausting their eligibility at the end of this year, so theoretically if everyone did return, this would at least leave them with one open scholarship. Given everything that has transpired over the last 3 months, I actually like where they ended up, and being honest, I was preparing for the worst back at the end of April. I think they roll with what they have, with the exception of taking a walk-on big as some have mentioned.

I watched a lot of high school ball over the last couple of weeks, some players that stood out to me and I think are still available include: Clay - Menomonee Falls Wells - Eau Claire Memorial Paider - Neenah Rose - Westosha Central I can't believe we left Rohde from Brookfield Central get out of the state. He reminds me of Decker. He reminds you of Decker because he's soft? Decker was good because he's 6'9". Rohde is a weak 6'6". Still nice because of his shooting, but he doesn't do anything else, and we didn't have a scholarship available at the time. Clay can defend with that 7' wingspan, he's far from a finished product, lots of upside still there. Paider is an interesting late bloomer. I'd love to have him as a walk on to see if he continues to develop. Springy and smart. I agree that's lots of talent still out there. Totally unusual for this time of year. A bunch more good players who weren't at State, like Learic Davis and Josia Butler, just to name a few. Rohde ended up first team all Summit League and freshman of the year. There are rumors he will be entering the transfer portal. (Greg Gard with some more interference?)

St. Thomas has some money, I wouldn’t be surprised if they put together a NIL package for him there.
I mean unless he really wants to go play for the shitty badgers
