Green Bay (12-14, 7-6) at Milwaukee (12-13, 7-6) Saturday, Feb 15 - 6:00 PM TV: My24 (in Milwaukee), ESPN+ Big, big game on tap Saturday night, especially after Scott Venci's article saying Detroit Mercy may not be eligible for the conference tournament in a few weeks. [ Link] The two seed is out of reach but potentially only having to win one home quarterfinal game as the 3 seed to get to Indy instead of having to win two games to get there is a huge difference. Obviously Green Bay hasn't been world beaters at home this season but if anything it would likely help to avoid another meeting with IUPUI which I think we can all agree is a good thing. Hopefully there will be a nice contingent of Green Bay fans at the game on Saturday.

This game is for pride just as much as it is for seeding. I loathe UWM's program, I always have and I always will.
Pearl used to break a lot of minor rules in recruiting. For example he was hosting Mike Schachtner off campus before he was old enough to do so. He called recruits from other people's cell phones to avoid tracking. Pearl can coach but he knows you need talent to win and he went out of his way to get it. His corner cutting made it way harder for GB to compete for players.
Imagine what UWM looks like if they never have that Sweet 16 run. Imagine what GB looks like if they didn't run up against against Pearl. Pearl's UWM teams finished first in back to back years with GB 3rd and 2nd. The remnants of Pearl's team with Jeter finished 1st again with GB 3rd. At the end of the day I get that GB didn't get the job done but by the same token if Bruce Pearl isn't doing Bruce Pearl things it is possible some of that history is reversed. For me that will stay with me for the rest of time.
In this game please defend Lucas/Roy, please stop turning the ball over in the press and please get on the glass.
As for seeding, at this point 3rd is great but if they can't get 3rd there are two things I don't want as a fan. I don't want to play IUPUI again and I don't want to play at YSU. Anything else is a coin flip the way recent history has gone.

I went to both UWM and UWGB but my heart has been with UWGB. I actually didn't mind the UWM program until 2005-2014. I used to go to some UWM games in the Ric Cobb era, was pretty easy to get near front row seats for those games. I even rooted for UWM in the early Pearl years but rooted against them in their 2005 run to Sweet 16 out of sheer jealousy. Definitely the most heartbreaking game was the loss to UWM in the 2014 conference tourney. That was probably the 2nd best UWGB team ever but the injuries and just an overall bad game against UWM made for a bitter end of what had been a great season. I know they finished in the NIT but I cared so little, they may as well have skipped it.
It feels like both programs have fallen a bit since 2014. Let's just hope UWGB can reverse a bit of a downward slide in the program.

Game Day!!! If GB wants any shot at third place they have to win tonight.
I’ll give Linc Darner a little credit for having his team being competitive on the road this year (except for UIC). Had a lead late at Wright State and YSU but just have to figure out how to close games out.
Don’t turnover the ball tonight 20 plus times and we should do just fine. Cough cough JayQuan 😉. Get your teammates involved but don’t try to do to much.
Let’s play some team basketball tonight and quit playing that 1 on 5 nonsense. It DOESNT work.
Go Phoenix!

If Coach Darner can’t have his team ready to go for a rivalry game AND a chance to put a solid hold on third place then I just don’t know.... let’s get this one boys!!

Never a doubt. As many open threes as MKE made me the guys were active and forced UWM into bad decisions late. Reminded me of the Youngstown game in reverse, we made the plays late to put it away. 4 winnable games left- 3 seed is there for the taking. Youngstown has to play the top two teams at home next week before coming to Wisconsin.

"Technically" speaking this was a victory for the Nix. The Panthers shot 44% from three, that and the two huge technicals against GB almost added up to a long trip home. This was an entertaining but frustrating win. Hats off to Davis, McCloud, and Hankerson. Mr.Bell and Mr.Pipes channel that emotion.

Wow, I thought those technicals were going to doom us. Way to overcome!

Despite UWM having a lot of answers on offense GB didn't quit and battled back from a deficit that seemed huge within the flow of the game. A great win for the team.
That is the second technical on PJ that I can remember in conference play. From what I can tell it's not what he is saying but rather his expression when he says it that is causing a problem.
For Tre he has been making a nice contribution of late and having to miss the rest of the game really was costly for GB. A different official called an offensive foul on a similar play in the first half so I can understand his confusion.
A shout out to Josh. He made some mega hustle plays when the team needed it.
Kam is finishing his career strong, the team is just better when he plays well.

Hate to bring up his name so I won’t but Kam Hankerson has developed into a better guard than the other guy that was brought in the same recruiting class. Also will have a better chance to play professionally overseas. He should be at least a all Horizon League second team.

In the first half the bald ref yelled at PJ after PJ argued a touch foul. Then on PJ's drive he gets body contact and the same ref doesn't call it. PJ says something and dude rings him up.
Bell didn't draw the charge that he did in the first half. He didn't say a word to the ref who called the foul but did wave his hand aggressively to which a different ref who wasn't involved called the technical.
I'm not saying the GB guys weren't being overly emotional but that is two questionable calls especially with how much actual trash is talked in a game.
