Big one at the Kress Center tonight. Looks like the lower bowl will be filled in based off the ticket site. Hopeful for a nice walk up crowd. Gotta pack this place and make it a crazy atmosphere since the game is on ESPNU
Go Phoenix!

Big opportunity tonight for GB to separate themselves from the middle of the pack in the League- UIC, YSU and CSU are all 5-5 at this moment. Detroit is a win at home vs Oakland away from joining them and Milwaukee a loss to Wright State tonight.

"If you want to stay in the top half, you have to find a way to win your home games and split on the road."
With 4 home games to play and 5 on the road the team would be 12-6 or 11-5 with this mentality. While not bad that probably isn't good enough to get a top 2 seed. Without a top 2 seed the road to the NCAA tournament gets a lot harder when there is a high level of parity in the league.
I am not expecting a big crowd, maybe 1500 people.

Nice 15-0 run to choke it away.

Well on the bright side don’t have to worry about Linc getting an extension for finishing 1-4 anymore.
Brutal second half. McCloud had a very off night and tried to do way to much. Linc needs to reel that in, that’s on him.
What’s next? Wright State. Can’t have an 0-2 home stand.

When was the last time gb had under 2000 for Friday and Saturday games in a season with no weather issues? Gotta be getting the attention of the AD.
I cannot remember since I’ve been alive for 32 years having this bad of attendance.

I don't know what happened strategy wise but GB went from handling the zone and getting stops to not doing either and giving up a 15 point run to go from up 6 to down 9. Game. set. Match.
Manny had 15 and 10 in game one and doesn't start in this game. Dumb. They didn't even try what worked before.
Cody was the only guy making shots and he is sitting on the bench when GB needed baskets.
For no reason he plays Will for 4 minutes, he cranks up 4 shots and misses everything before returning to the bench.
If you are going to randomly try stuff how about trying the stuff that has worked before.
Darner said something about the lineup and having a big in versus an extra guard and thinking through that choice. Who is he kidding, that decision took him 2 seconds to make. Of course he is going extra guard, he always does. It always feels like his lineup is a response to the other team instead of a dictation to them. Let's play how we want to play and not how they want us to.
The crowd was a joke. Don't get too excited about the lower level, they probably have about 1200 seats for sale in the lower level. People don't care about this team right now and they sure as shit don't want to drive across GB to an unfamiliar area for most that is the campus and watch games. The attendance at the Kress proves that. Message received, lesson learned, stop playing D1 games on campus. It is killing the program.
The student attendance was decent but they don't give a shit either and don't have any passion and make any noise. I hope some students read that and instead of being pissed off by it take it as a call to action to get organized and do something. Showing up is good. Showing up, caring and creating a fun atmosphere is better.
On the whole this sucked. It was frustrating on so many levels. This damn sure better not be the new normal. It is not acceptable to me and this won't be sustainable if GB ever wants to play on the big stage in March anytime soon or possibly again.

I don’t get it either. Linc over thinks it sometimes. I appreciate the interviews after the game, holds him a little bit more accountable. Although I hate his strategy of letting one guy get open looks because we aren’t “good enough” to guard everyone. How many times has that killed us? Dude went 5-7 last night, you give a guy a wide open three even if he is struggling he will hit those shots.
I will keep watch, keep tweeting and still posting on here because I care a whole lot, but the casual fan will check out and that’s what this program needs to be worried about. No casual fan will support a program that is inconsistent as this one.

Two weeks ago they played a Thursday night game at the Resch that drew 1200. Last night the attendance, was almost 1900... not saying that’s anything to be proud of, but if they put a good team on the floor, fans will come out. Doesn’t matter where they play. The issue right now is that they aren’t a very good team.

Four weeks ago at the Resch on a Friday night with a more expensive beer promotion they drew 2100 with hardly any being students who get in for free. Last night they drew less people, including 200 students who get in for free. Kress games draw fewer people on comparable game days. Of the paying customers the Kress gets fewer to go. For me it's not even a debate.

For me it's not even a debate. Like I said, the first problem they need to solve is how to consistently win games. Until they do that, no one is showing up to either venue to watch them. Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’d still take a 50% filled Kress over a 25% filled Resch, even if the attendance number is the roughly the same. If they can start to fill a majority of the Resch when they play there I’ll certainly change my stance, but games at the Resch just feel so empty and lifeless right now. The Kress games might feel lifeless too, but at least fans are closer to the action and it doesn’t have such an empty feel to it. But until they start winning more games, this debate is kind of pointless, cause attendance won’t be growing if they don’t.

Maybe I just care too much but I’m still pissed about last nights game and this conference season. I apologize but I’m about to rant.
Since Linc has taken over we have not finished higher than 4th in the Horizon League, granted he took us to the NCAA tournament so I am grateful for that. Is the athletic administration ok with just finishing 4th we as fans sure as hell aren’t. Finishing only 4th will not bring the fans in to pack the Resch like it has been in the past.
Casual fans will not stick around to watch us beat a NKU team and then come home to get blown out by one of the worst teams in the NCAA (IUPUI) sorry IUPUI. IMO not being able to beat IUPUI so far should be a fireable offense as well. That has cost us a chance to finish higher in the standings. Sorry that was a side rant.
His style has not and will not consistently win basketball games on the D1 level. We have seen this one to many times over the past 4 years. I’m tired of the statements how how we have will have to get lucky to win or we have to rely on the other teams to miss shots because we can’t guard well enough. Isn’t it on the coach to bring players in who can guard? If not then coach them up to solve the issue or make adjustments? We have been at the bottom of the barrel in three point defense for a longgggg time and NOTHING has changed.
Now onto recruiting, we are losing targets to other mid major programs around the area. Whether it be NKU, South Dakota State, Valpo, SIU, Wright State etc. I can’t tell you last recruit we got from the area who had other mid major offers out there. That’s a problem. Local talent sells more tickets and drives the interest up. For example we will see Grant Basile tomorrow and he is from Pewaukee. Didn’t even send the guy a flyer, now he’s a solid big man we will have to deal with for the next four years.
The posts have dwindled on this forum over the past couple seasons and that worries me that people have checked out/given up on GB. 4th or 5th place is a bullshit requirement to keep a good handle on the job. No matter how the year ends, there needs to be an evaluation of the program starting with Coach Darner himself. Is he the right guy to move us over the hump of 4th place?
Cheer y’all, can’t wait to see Loudon Loves dread locks tomorrow.

Cheer y’all, can’t wait to see Loudon Loves dread locks tomorrow. 1000 percent agree. I’ve been criticized for being too negative but this team has played this way for far too long without someone calling Linc out. I think GB finished 3rd in 2016 though didn’t they? They then choked after Valpo and Oakland bowed out the first day. It would not surprise me in the slightest if they beat Wright St tomorrow. That’s the most frustrating part about a Linc team. They can beat the top teams on any night but then lose inexcusable games. He does just enough not to get fired every year. I also don’t like Wisconsin or any other team so it’s painful not having a team play in the big dance every year save for once every 20 years. I’ll be forever grateful for Linc finally getting them over the hump. But enoughs enough. Fans are fed up. I don’t think talent is the issue either. Similar to Greg Gard.
