I hope it's a fun game and a fun atmosphere.
New court, cheap beer and the best non conference team that is coming in this year.
If you love this team, get there. If you hate this team, get there. Either way get there and be loud!

This team used to at least play well at home now they get destroyed there too.
This isn’t even a young team. Yes not having tank hurts and McNair a little but they shouldn’t be getting spanked game after game like this.
Sooner or later Linc needs to take accountability for this mess or something needs to change. Sick of excuse after excuse by him. Own up to your crappy no adjustment coaching.
The only reason I might attend a game this year is Amari. This is horrible unwatchable basketball. RP40 is dead in the water. At least last year or in the past they could come back from 15-20. That hasn’t happened this year and I don’t see it happening anytime soon.

Having this game on a Saturday night did nothing to boost the attendance. Neither did facing a team from the Missouri Valley that beat Kentucky.
I think people are just done with Linc Darner. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine under 2000 for a Saturday night game against a d-1 team when people are in town for the packer game. They only had 500 more people than a game against Stout. This team doesn’t light up the scoreboard like it did his first two years. They have never played much defense but now that the offense is equally as bad all you are showing up for is bad basketball. That won’t play for the older crowd and the younger crowd aren’t showing up for offensive struggles.
This HAS to be getting the attention of the AD. If not nothing will. Do a mutual buyout if you can’t fire him. Persuade Linc he misses his family in Florida too much to stay here and be miserable in the winter. Whatever it takes to inspire some life into this now dead program.
It doesn’t look like the buzz Amari is getting is doing it. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t draw 2500 for any games this year other than Krash the Kress (because they give free crap away on campus) and uwm If only because of traveling uwm fans.
All the good will built up in the CIT run is gone and it clearly meant nothing to momentum to this team. I guess Sandy really did mean that much to this team.
I know it doesn’t mean much in the grander scheme of things but you have to beat Eastern Illinois and at least spilt between Colgate and Evansville. 5-6 looks a lot better than 3-8 and would give this team some confidence. Right now it’s all gone and Linc has no answers.

Loser makes a lot of points I agree with about how disappointing this 1900 person "crowd" was and the challenge of getting it back.
Defense had a few early breakdowns but improved once they implemented some zone.
Thanks to a big game from Manny Patterson GB didn't get annihilated on the glass.
In this game the offense failed GB. JayQuan was 1-15. The baskets that they were making were mostly unassisted in the first half. In the second half they had the ball down 6 with some crowd noise and momentum and didn't score. They got to the ft line down 7 and missed all 3, compounded by an Aces 3. Evansville was bigger than GB but their defense wasn't that good to cause GB to shoot so poorly.
The team is banged up. Miles was in uniform last night. I'm not sure what practice looks like right now because McNair, Tank and Jefferson are definitely not available. Kellogg is having a surgery per Venci. Pipes was limping around and probably won't practice much this week. It's possible to get worse before better.

Long time reviewer, first time poster. Thank you for all the information over the last 5 years when i discovered this forum to have all insight possible on the Phoenix program.
I understand all of the frustration surrounding the team, but need to point a few things out. I have attended 3 games this year (St Norbert, C-Sun, and Evansville) and watched all but 2. (Stout, Eastern IL). I attended all but 2 home games last season so I feel that I have a pretty good feel for the team in general.
I think the main focal point of discussion for the season surrounds the schedule so far. I think the fan base needs to keep in mind that this schedule has been brutal. There isn't a team in the horizon that has had a more difficult schedule then GB. While I understand the frustration and the lack of awareness on defense the team seems to have for stretches of every game, I do see 1 huge intangible that no one has really brought up so far this season with all of the discussions.
Heart. This team does not quit. Period. Doesn't matter where they are playing, who they are playing against or what the score is. They keep playing. You can't say that about every team for a reason because some teams look at the score board and throw in the towel. This team could have been beaten by 30 on the road multiple times (at Purdue, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Xavier, UCF). All down 20 points minimum at one point and in every game has come back and made the game a contest. Last night, they made a 13-0 run after being down 60-41 with 12 mins to go and ended up being 3 made free throws away from being down 4 with just under 5 mins to go against a team that should have put them away and knocked them out the previous 15 ins of the half. The refs did nothing to help the cause as they were siding with Evansville most of the night on borderline charges, fouls etc. This Williams kid for Evansville, who is very talented and their best player, flopped more then an NBA starter did the entire night, it was pathetic. But, like many other teams have found out this year, GB didn't lay down. Your missing 2 starters, 2 other starters are 1-15 at that point in the game with Cody and Jaquan and you're still in the game. To me, that is a very good sign. This team needs some rest, needs to get healthy and get ready for conference play.
Main areas for me that they need to clean up: communication on defense in general, movement without the ball on offense, bring intensity and energy right from the get go for these games and DON'T SETTLE FOR JUMPSHOTS ON OFFENSE WITH 15+ SECONDS ON THE SHOT CLOCK (that one kills me every time).
The defense has improved this year as far as contesting shots and rebounding has improved although it still could be better.
At the end of the day, the horizon league is a 1 bid league. Doesn't matter what your record is, it is what you do in conference and the conference tournament that only matters. They are more battle tested then anyone in this league and with the fat checks they just received from being on the road, make a deposit in the bank and gear up for the real season that is on the horizon (see what i did there.....)

Nice first post from DoubleJ.
I don't think the rebounding is that much better. A couple of these head scratching games have been debacles on the glass. EIU is a great example. It's no coincidence that when Manny plays the team rebounds better than when he doesn't. Even last night they only thought he can play zone which is hilarious because their man defense often gets shredded.
This is just a pet peeve for me but no fan of a Horizon League member should even say it's a one bid league so the other games don't matter. That slowly permeates the culture and causes people to not pay attention, it causes teams to play ridiculous schedules of non resume building wins and causes players and coaches to think they can throw a hail Mary in March and absolve all sins of the regular season. Winning is a mindset and habit, getting everyone on the winning all the time expectation is super important to turn the Titanic that is the Horizon League around.
I had people affiliated with athletics tell me in the 2013-14 season only the HL tournament matters. I said BS then and I will say it now. That year GB was in the first four out, beating Harvard or UW that year would have helped a lot. Nobody knew in November that team was at large capable.
Conversely focusing on March only is how you end up with a coach contract and subsequent extensions like Darner has now.
This program needs to care about winning all of the time if they want NE WI to care about it prior to March of each year.

God, this program is painful to watch.....I don't know what's worse, Mike Heideman's last season at GB; TK's late season stumbles after having strong starts in his years at GB; or BW's teams come so painfully close, but to get bad luck, succumb to the big moment at the end, or other players not names Alec Brown, Keifer Sykes, or Alfonzo McKinnie not being able to do something with a basketball in a big game......or this year's team under Linc.
I need to take some Excedrin for this RP40 that's in my head.

I heard this song on the radio on the way home, very appropriate: Lately, I've been, I've been thinking I want you to be happier, I want you to be a winner When the game time comes When we see that no one has come In the cold light of day we're a flame in the wind Not the rising Phoenix that we've begun Every loss, every shot we can't take back 'Cause with the all that has happened I think that we both know the way that the story ends Then only for a minute I want to change my style 'Cause this defense don't feel right to me I want to raise trophies I want to see you win but Know that means I'll have to leave Know that means I'll have to leave Lately, I've been, I've been thinking I want you to be happier, I want you to be a winner When the team falls And I'm left there with my clipboards And the image of you cheering someone else Well, that's eating me up inside But we still run and gun, we pretend that we're okay Now if we jump together at least we can swim Far away from the NET wreck we made Then only for a minute I want to change my style 'Cause this defense don't feel right to me I want to raise trophies I want to see you win but Know that means I'll have to leave Know that means I'll have to leave Lately, I've been, I've been thinking I want you to be happier, I want you to be a winner So I'll go, I'll go I will go, go, go

This thread is depressing. The team has certainly been disappointing so far and there are several factors that go into a 3-8 record. I agree with GBPhoenix that a program has to have the mindset that an at large bit is at least possible. Scheduling 5 high majors makes that nearly impossible unless you find a way to win at least three of those games. This team has too many issues and concerns to make me expect them to flip the switch and contend in the Horizon. We are not in the same conversation with Northern Kentucky and Wright State right now. Outside of those teams, there is no consistency whatsoever in the league. The City of Green Bay does not support this team enough to come out for a Top 200 program. Most fans could care less if they go 11-7 or 7-11 in the league, they want to see titles McCloud will not shoot 1-15 again this year. Time to move on and get better-the wins will come the big question is how will they get it done?
