Saying Wardle was going to get fired is revisionist history at best. He brought in guys without a lot of offers and coached them up. His formula was simple. If you play hard, want to win desperately and live in the gym he would coach you up. He was under zero pressure from the athletic department and that isn’t to say he was well liked but they knew he was doing a solid job in GB. He took over a pile of junk at Bradley and has worked it into a pretty good spot. He is on the cusp of getting a major promotion. People should stop acting like he sucked, he didn’t. As for this game there isn’t much to say. They were beat in every phase. Colgate like Wisconsin was well schooled and made the right pass every time. CSun went nuts from deep but mostly off the dribble. Colgate’s shooters were in the shooting position and just had to fire. Essentially CSun got hot, Colgate was just flat out better and smarter than GB. One thing that I don’t understand is the rebounding. GB was down 10 at the half and neither center played. Manny grabbed 5 boards in 9 second half minutes. Even if he couldn’t guard them why not play him more? Nobody else could guard them either, it wasn’t like everything else was working and playing Manny put GB at a disadvantage. A positive to take away was Tre getting some better minutes. That is something he can build on. The last thing I want to discuss is the Kress Center itself. The people around the program seem to like playing there. It is a little louder and probably better in the bank account for the program. Yet the community of GB doesn’t like going there. This program should be upset that these two games only drew 1436 and 1342 fans. The other D1 games at the Kress that were not part of Krash the Kress drew 1469, 1341, 1822 and 2269 last year. With very few exceptions more people show up at the Resch for D1 games. It is closer to where the people are, easier to go out before/after the game and easier to navigate to from a parking perspective. Most people spend time in and around Lambeau, they know the drill. How many people go on UWGB’s campus for anything else? But hey keep making the program a niche entertainment option for the few instead of making it NE Wisconsin’s D1 program. They got tripped up on the court and in how they operate. Another example, I loved the post-game interview and highlight package from last night, oh wait there wasn’t one. The program is not home again for 2.5 weeks. I’m beyond curious what they will do to stay relevant given that some people seem content to keep the program hidden on campus and out of most forms of media. I don’t know if it’s necessarily revisionist. Again, he brought in talent, but folded like a lawn chair under any pressure. Another thing to consider is that perhaps NE Wisconsin is just not a basketball area in terms of fandom. Sure, the university doesn’t promote it, and the local media doesn’t even act like the team exists, but I’m not positive that there is much of a demand anyway. As for the game itself, I hope Linc can actually make some adjustments based on the loss so we can be competitive this year. You can tell some players are very hungry and are playing their hardest, they need to be rewarded for that.

I remember my excitement when 5 star Keifer Sykes signed, when Al McKinnie with all of his previous made 3's arrived on campus, when Carrington Love picked GB over a bunch of other D1 schools, when Jordan Fouse called every D1 within driving distance of his grandma and said no thanks or when an absolutely physically shredded Alec Brown stepped on campus. Man I thought the program had made it because of all this talent...
I remember the disappoint of home losses to Virginia and Marquette while folding at Miami on the road. I remember thinking they were never going to win a regular season conference title again after that...
It doesn't matter because he is gone but by the same token when people are blind to quality it makes it even harder to back fill that when it is gone.
I know this, the program might not cater to 7500+ fans because that might not be what the community cares about. However, anyone who knows anything about this program knows that it has in the Resch Center era been over 4k per game average several times and up until recently over 3k per game average. Something has changed for the community. In addition to the game and quality of the games they have no media presence at all. I know Linc doesn't like attention, well tough shit. He is the face of the program and needs to be out there promoting it. If you don't ask people to buy your product they won't.

I was in attendance the last two games and also saw Colgate play Sunday. Colgate couldn't hit anything against CSUN but they were that much better than those guys that they still found a way to win. The looks they got were good looks with ball movement and inside/out touches vs GB and CSUM. They are the real deal but GB also looks like a bad bad defensive team that hopes to just outscore you. Too bad they couldnt beat any of the P6 schools they played to help their potential NCAA seed. GB will be a top four team if the guys play offense like they did last night in this crappy league with better effort on defense. A couple of passes and our guys were lost- Left Brown open too often.
As for fan support, the crowds were really disappointing the last two nights. Everyone could easily fit in the lower level. For someone who goes to just about all of the home games and have had season tickets for 6 years, the fan base is just really old and I am not sure some of them like Linc's style and some of them like going to the Kress. I am 32 year old and rarely do I see anyone there who looks around my age. This is a problem for many mid majors but I feel like it is magnified here.
Thanksgiving week doesn't help but a casual fan should do 5 minutes of research or know thru promotions that Colgate went to the NCAAs last year and return just about everyone. I would be all for having all of the games on campus if we could get 2500+ a game there- just not happening.

Also, Linc isn't getting fired anytime soon. He is owed 230k/yr for 6 more years. Seems like the new AD Charles Guthrie has pretty high standards for his athletic programs so you just never know. One loss shouldn’t cost the guy his job but if this continues on into the conference and on to next year then change may be needed. I don’t think the whole 1 year extension thing for finishing 4th was given under Guthrie’s regime. I believe that was set up before Guthrie was hired.

One loss shouldn't cost him his job or send the program into D2. It is important to note that he has the full support of the department is locked up until the end of the 2024-25 season. It is going to have to get a lot worse than this for Gary G to come walking thru that door! On the bright side in the article about the 4 recruits on their website today noted they could all defend which is great news. Finally, I think RP40 was something that was branded to create excitement but maybe without proper context. Pressure implies defense in the full court, we don't really see much more than picking the ball up. A more accurate description would have been UT40. Up Tempo for 40 minutes is a very fair and accurate description of how the team plays. The system has struggled on the glass and in getting consecutive stops. However, more than most they really do ram the tempo down the throat of other teams. It can be enjoyable to watch when they play together.

Also, Linc isn't getting fired anytime soon. He is owed 230k/yr for 6 more years. Play the Power Ball if you want him fired. I loathe the thought of Gary G. and others from that era coming to GB. As a program we have to move on. For where GB sits in the D1 pecking order right now it would likely be a case of getting smarter but less talented and athletic players. We would be on here complaining about how nobody can create a shot when the defense takes everything away. Plus don't be so sure Gary wasn't offered the job the last time, he might not want it for all we know. Gary has done one hell of a job at SNC, but I know a lot of former players of his and they very much dislike him as a person. He also struggles to ever win the big games. His ceiling here would be Tod K. I would like to know where this comes from. I went to SNC and I am not sure I know a single person that does not like him or that does not think he's a great guy. At least we would be fundamentally sound and play a good brand of basketball. Outside of Amari its not like there's great talent coming in every year anyways. Its all a bunch of Juco guys who don't have any time to develop in the program.
