Multiple sources are saying IPFW will be officially announcing a switch from the Summit League to the Horizon. I like the addition for several reasons -- Fort Wayne fits the geographic footprint of the Horizon and adds two D1 games to the schedule.

Hopefully a 20 game Horizon League schedule will make things easier and eliminate the non D1 games. Ten years ago this move would have been laughed at but times have changed and it just makes sense going forward. Welcome Purdue-Fort Wayne.

They also have baseball...helps stave off extinction for the game in this league.

Good for the HL and GB, so we won't have to schedule 2 D3 games every year......Maybe we can actually get away with not having non-D1 games going forward??

I can understand those fans who do not approve of this addition. With that said this makes sense on a lot of levels for the league.
Two hot takes. The Summit will add Augustana to get to 10 teams again. Thus getting back to needing to find one more team for the challenge.
Several HL members will still play non D1 games after this. It's too easy to schedule and some just want the W's. I'm hoping GB isn't one of those teams.

Now that it's reality it feels different than when it was just conjecture on message boards.
I do know this. If GB starts out 0-4 against these guys I may retire my GB fandom...ok maybe not that extreme but I will be upset if that happens.
