I believe the PR got a little better last year. With the bill boards and the large size graphic on the Resch was a cool thing to see.
I also think the court will be changed this year to the new GB logo as well.

PR and marketing are separate items in my view.
Marketing entails coming up with a new logo and putting it on the court. PR would be releasing images or writing an article about the new court design.
Marketing entails new logo gear and promotions to buy or win it. PR is releasing details on how to get the new gear.
Essentially GB does half of this, just not consistent on which half. They have a small work force so I get why, I just happen to think this is the most important hurdle they face. In today's social media world if you are out of sight you are out of mind. For example GB basketball has produced 26 original tweets since the season ended. Most of which were about Tony Bennett or Alfonzo McKinnie. That probably isn't good enough on the PR side. I know they are working hard though so I'm not going to be too harsh on this topic.

Solid road game for Green Bay against NIU. Assumed this was going to happen because Charles Guthrie is pretty good buddies with NIU’s AD.
A game that Green Bay has a good shot to win, hopefully Coach Darner can figure out how to get the best out of his team on the road though. Too many ass kickings on the road last year, need to be more competitive.

The best part of the NIU game is that I am assuming NIU will return to GB in 2020. Otherwise I can't imagine GB would play NIU as a 2 for 1, no matter who you are buddies with in their athletic department.
Hopefully when NIU returns to GB it will be on a Saturday night like this game is being played on.

A regular season game against Stout is equal parts gross and frustrating.
Fan interest is dying and nobody seems interested in doing anything about it. Nobody wants to pay for these games and the more you play them the more amateur it makes the program look. It is a vicious circle.
If it is about profit of a home game then stop playing closed scrimmages and play this as a second exhibition game if you want to sell 1800 extra tickets.
What is the high end of profit on this game...$25,000??? Don't routinely not listen to the few fans you have left to make 25k. Play it as an exhibition and then playing another road game probably makes the same or more money and gives fans a regular season game they actually care about.
Playing it as a regular season game shows a commitment to what exactly?

This isn’t a Green Bay problem, it’s a mid major problem. Last year Detroit was the only team in the Horizon League that didn’t play a non D1 team in the regular season. It’s just how scheduling goes at this level, probably something you’ll just have to get use to as a fan of this team.

Playing Stout sucks, but it doesn’t suck as much when we had to shell out cash to play a team like this at the Resch Center.
Maybe next year we won’t have any non division 1 games due to playing in the Summit league challenge, where we get one home game and one away game against a summit league opponent

Saying that though, historically GB has played at least two of these each year for the past decade.

Once again, when in doubt...schedule Stout unfortunately.
I get that non-D1 games are part of these multi-team events but there should really only be 1 on the schedule at the absolute most. There are like 350 other D1 schools that could be scheduled. Wisconsin-Stout should be a beer on tap at the Resch Center not an opponent on GB's schedule.
Hopefully this will be the only non-D1 game but I think you can almost guarantee that there will be at least one more Lakeland / Rockford type game.

We couldn't find a D2 team to play??? We couldn't get N. Mich., Mich. Tech., UMD, St. Cloud St., UW-Parkside, Winona State, Bemidji St., MSU-Mankato, or Northern State (SD) to play?

If they aren’t playing d-1 I could care less if it’s d-2 d-3 or Seymour high school. The game doesn’t count on their resume so it’s stupid. Play a buy game on the road or just skip this game. I’d rather see them play the globetrotters or athletes in action.

A win over a D2 team doesn’t look any better than a win over a D3 team. If they’re playing a non D1 team, make the game as easy as possible.

I recently reviewed UW Stout's 2019-2020 basketball schedule. On their schedule the game against UWGB is listed as an exhibition game. If that is the case this game will not count as a regular season game for GB. Couple weeks ago I wrote about the lack of news coming from the GB Athletic Department. Interesting I first heard about the game between NIU vs GB on this site....not from the AD Department. Amazing that other games GB men will be playing you find out by reading the Phear the Phoenix. I truly appreciate the all the new news by reading this site. Additionally, why is it that the Horizon League Conference Basketball Schedule has not been released as of yet? It's not like the conference has to figure out who plays who like the Big Ten or PAC 12 does etc... Is it because of ESPN hasn't told the conference a game or two will be on the ESPN network??? The delay holds true for the Women's basketball schedule as well. If the delay is due to ESPN wonder why the Conference doesn't push for at least one or two Horizon League Women's basketball games to be played on one of the ESPN networks (ESPNU, etc). It's not like the Conference doesn't have a one or two worthy women's basketball teams. Guess the GB women having the 2nd longest consecutive winning seasons doesn't mean a thing... Once again it looks as though Marquette rather play an out of state teams with a much lower RPIs than the GB men. Does anyone know the reasoning why Marquette doesn't play the GB men? Is it because they follow the Wisconsin model....not play GB each and every year??
