The last two Tuesday CIT games confirmed that they need to play all their games at the kress. I was against this for the longest time but the atmosphere is night and day. There was only 2200 there tonight but both lower bowls were completely full and it felt like 5000. At the resch 3000 would barely make a fart noise. Just felt like a college basketball atmosphere. I get these are tourney games so they fill a bit different but the kress sits 4000 ish so even 2000 seems like a lot of people compared to 3000 scattered at the resch. Super annoyed this game wasn’t on cbs sports network as I would have liked other fans to be able to see it that couldn’t attend. They bought the rights to show all of the Vegas 16 games that one year but won’t even show the semifinals of this? Not happy. The champ game better be on there although I’ll have to go to a friends to watch it as I don’t get that channel Not liking our chances especially if McCloud doesn’t play but either way it’s been a fun ride and makes me excited for next year. Sandy had some boneheaded plays tonight and missed some fts but came up clutch in ot. At least going into next season, we should be playing more games at the Kress, especially those games that fall on a weekday, until we get more home dates for Fridays and Saturdays at the Resch. I'd rather have a more intimate atmosphere than being scattered in a larger arena. Great win by GB last night!!!!!

Now I flip back and forth about this subject all the time but last nights atmosphere was amazing and if you could get something like that during a few of the conference games then that would be great.

The atmosphere was good but the game was really good. The same game at the Resch would have had a good atmosphere.
The crowd was 2269 for one of, if not the most important game of the year against a really good team. For whatever reason fans don't want to come to games at the Kress.
The deal going forward keeps a mix of Resch and Kress. Sadly that indicates to me that they plan to play more Non D1 games moving forward. That is a shame. This a $100,000 to $170,000 problem to fix. If you have $50,000 to $85,000 you can buy good home games. GB needs to buy two games. Unfortunately with the current crowd size there is no ROI on that. I still think they need to fund raise for it because the community has essentially voted and they don't take those games or a program that ignores this problem seriously.

I disagree. 2200 at the resch would have been scattered city and not the same type of atmosphere. Also most people don’t care about these type of third tier tourneys. This game had 400 more people than the UIC tourney game and the crowd at the resch would have been about the same but more scattered. The days of GB getting a big school to come here are over and that was the only reason to play at the resch. They never get preferential treatment; always get bumped for a concert or Gamblers because those draw better. And on top of that they have to pay PMI a fee to play there? For a school with continual budget issues why wouldn’t you play on campus and save all that money? I get they have played near Lambeau for the longest time but I’d rather have them save the money they give to PMI and use it toward recruiting or getting better mid major teams to play us at the Kress. It’s not like they have a long list of season ticket holders either. It’s probably Under 1000 at this point. Yeah it might upset a few but it’s not like they are breaking the bank on the current season tickets holders anyway and that number seems to continue to drop by the year.

The UIC game was plenty lively by the fans especially at the end.
Nobody can sit in one end zone and and nobody does sit in the other end zone at the Resch. Everybody sits on the sidelines. There are about 5000 seats on the sidelines. It is pretty much the same thing as the Kress which has a very small amount of end zone seating.
One venue has suites and nearby pre and post game options. One venue doesn't. The Kress seats are less comfortable in the lower bowl, there are fewer good seats including court side premium seats, the concession stands are small, the bathrooms are on one end, it took longer to get out of because of a smaller set of doors and a smaller main hallway. I don't mind going there but for me it is an inferior venue and that factors in my views on PMI which does an average job of managing the Resch and a below average job of promoting GB basketball and making it feel welcome there.
Nobody was clamoring to move to the Kress after the Indiana State game. I am not going to let a fun win cloud my view on this topic. If GB loses to TSU, I am not sure we are having this conversation.

A little comparison: The CBI Tournament Finals -- DePaul versus South Florida -- the announced attendance for the second game of a three-game series -- played in Chicago, with a metro population of more than 9 million people -- was 1,704. GB in the CIT Tournament has had better attendance in a radically smaller market. The game in Huntington tonight based on recent tournament games should be at least 5,000.

Depaul is a miserable program, not even sure how they are in the big east.

Showed up 40 mins early and out of t-shirts. Talked to someone at work who showed up right at seven didn’t get one. Not a good look to lie about a promo. Doesn’t even look like there are 500 here yet. The line was out the Kress doors to get in at 7:00. If you are going to complain about a free t-shirt after only paying $10 for a ticket for some top caliber basketball (plus OT), you might want to reevaluate why you are going to post season basketball games. We got into the arena around 7:06 and received t-shirts which is a FREE BONUS to going to the game.

On the DePaul comment, yep they have been bad but with a new downtown arena, Coach Leitao and some quality recruits things are changing. The problem is perception based on years of futility. As to the GB attendance issue -- the product has been improving over the years. Kowalczyk had a heck of a rebuild and never escaped the shadow of Dick Bennett. Wardle, while being a strong recruiter never got over the hump that would get wider attention in the community. I think under the current dynamics GB would be better served to have most of the team's games on campus.

I am certainly not say I am right and everyone else is wrong. Both sides can be right on this topic.
I believe that in GB/Brown County more people live off of HWY 172 and I41 than off of I43. It certainly seems more development happens on that stretch. With the Port, Bay Beach Wildlife and the campus itself there isn't a lot of development on the NE side of town. Immediately east and north of campus is more rural than urban. I wouldn't make a niche market even more niche by moving it were the people and development aren't.
The HL tournament game at the Resch had 1727 people with 5 days notice. The FIU game at the Kress had 1341 people with 6 days notice. The CSUB game at the Kress had 1822 people with 3 days notice. The TSU game at the Kress had 2269 people with 4 days notice. The AD did a lot to get the word out and get people interested. It is working. However, the TSU game was the culmination of 2 weeks of tournament play. Getting 542 more people than the UIC game isn't exactly a fair comparison. The UIC game compared to the FIU game is more accurate. Both games didn't seem that important based on how the season played out, neither opponent held a lot of cache and both games had about the same amount of lead time.
There are so many other things to try first before moving the games.

To your point about development in the area, Green Bay’s new mayor said he wanted to make the city’s northeast side a priority for both housing and businesses, so that dynamic could be changing in the years to come.
