Even if we take a buy in tournament, it’s safe to say most of us are looking forward to next year already.
A few things I expect from the offseason:
- Unfortunately at least 2 transfers....I like TJ and Jevon as players, but I would understand if they left due to lack of playing time.
- At least one Juco/Transfer signing
- A plan moving forward from the athletic department to address declining ticket sales, whether that be through promotions, decrease in price, increased advertising/media presence, etc...
A few things I’m looking forward to:
- Amari Davis. This kid looks like the real deal. The more film I watch of him, the more I think he can eventually be an all-league player and one who can contribute in year one.
- Hopefully a marquee home game
Thoughts?

Up till last year. Season-ticket holder‘s always got a couple of free tickets. That didn’t happen last year. I was always able to bring a couple people to the games that would not have otherwise come. Also way back we always got free parking included with the season tickets. Another issue when the games are on campus I got awful seats. Even though I have been a season ticket holder since the very beginning. Have easily been to over 600 games.

Things I see happening this off season: - I believe there may be 2-3 transfers this off-season. Who knows who they may be but its year two of our large sophomore class and it seems after 2 is when players will bolt. - I hope we can snag a grad transfer to help with the rotation next year. Whether it be a strong outside shooter or a big man. Immediate help in either area would be a big deal. Although depending on how Will Chevalier's red shirt year went he could fill both of these roles - I would like to also grab a transfer who is a local kid who left Wisconsin and wants to return home. This way he could be ready to role come Bell's, Pipes, Manny etc senior year. - Amari Davis looks like he could help next year, but lets pump the brakes a little bit on the kid. Give him time to develop and not throw him to lions. When was the last time we had an impact freshman? No Im sorry Trevor Anderson was not one. - Japannah Kellogg reminds me of a Jordan Fouse type player, who can really play defense and cause problems with his length. Lets face it, this team needs ALOT of help on defense. - This 2020 class is loaded with talent with kids from Wisconsin. Linc and Co needs to land ATLEAST 3 kids from the state. Make or break recruiting year for Linc Darner. - Only play one conference game for Krash the Kress and all non D'1's at the Kress Center. Get us a few late afternoon/early evening tip times for Saturday nights during conference. - Lastly, learn to be competitive on the road.
-Go Phoenix!

What games do we know for sure for next season? Based on comments on this board and Twitter here is what we have. Home: Evansville Road: Purdue, Wisconsin Likely: Northern Illinois, 4 team MTE
With the Summit League thing starting in 2020 I would guess that fans can expect 2 non D1 home games.
As for players, if there are any more additions I would agree that it is going to be somebody with experience who can contribute right away. Coach has had success with that and the AD comes with Juco experience out west.

Looks like my Jevon prediction has already come true. Hopefully we can get a big forward or center to transfer in so we don’t get killed on the glass as badly.

This decision could of been made weeks ago by Jevon or just in the last few days but either way it gives the coaching staff ample time to fill his spot. 👍🏻

Still need another play to transfer before they can recruit another player.
I think we have to see if they make a tournament before anymore shoes drop.

If the limit is 13 then yes if both recruits still come to GB. Only Sandy and Jevon are departing at this time.

So question, what would of happened if no one would of left? Who pays that scholarship? Or did the staff just assume someone was going to leave?

So question, what would of happened if no one would of left? Who pays that scholarship? Or did the staff just assume someone was going to leave? With all the turnover in college basketball they probably assumed at least one player was going to transfer after the season. There's also the option of "Creaning" where you just pull a scholarship from a kid, basically cutting them to open up a scholarship. I doubt that was Linc's plan but Tom Crean and Buzz Williams were notorious for doing this at Marquette. It's even got it's own Urban Dictionary definition: www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Creaning

Scholarships are a one-year commitment and are subject to review and renewal. In D1 ball the last time I checked the transfer rate was something like 2.1 players per team, per year. It's a two way street for both coaches and players. Sometimes the moves are mutual and other times they can be ugly from the coaches perspective or the players. Darner was stung with the late Anderson and Kanter departures. (an entire recruiting season was thrown on its ear and a "team's" season negatively impacted.)

I know we don’t have any scholarships available at the moment but adding a player like Kirk from Ohio would be huge for the program. A teammate of Trevian Bell as well. Would give our Sophmore class a extra boost come their senior yeah and potentially a Horizon League potentially winning squad.

Kirk is looking to move up the food chain IMO, I can see him ending up in the AAC or lower level Big East.

Kirk is looking to move up the food chain IMO, I can see him ending up in the AAC or lower level Big East. It depends on what he has out there for interest but I can totally seeing him looking at Green Bay. Would get solid minutes, has a former teammate on the squad, would be a focal point and could jump to the next level like Sandy is going to do. I most definitely wouldn’t rule it out.
