After giving CSU their only HL win, YSU has responded with a 3 game win streak.
YSU has been a tough match up for GB in the Darner era.
If GB plays like they have the last two games this should be a GB win. The effort and energy where really good, in the flow of the game they have had one of the many weapons step up and score. I don't think YSU can outscore GB at their respective bests.
Quisenberry ate GB up last game. That was before McNair started to play defense on the perimeter. I will be curious what impact that will have today.
A loss gives both teams 6 conference wins. A win sends GB to 7 wins and a tie for 4th at the worst. UIC plays IUPUI at noon so one of those teams is no longer going to be tied with GB. OU plays at NKU. A loss keeps OU at 7 wins. Detroit is scuffling now and a loss at WSU keeps them at 6 wins. Needless to say this is a big potential win for GB in the pursuit of a home game in March.

Not sure what this teams fetish is with losing to an inferior YSU each year but it’s disgusting. Kiss that home tournament game goodbye! Lincs seat warmer than a June summer day!

If you are still defending Linc Darner and the job he has done at Green Bay then you are out of your mind. Getting flat out embarrassed
FIRE LINC DARNER

Giving up 95 points in a game to a mid level at best D1 team is a problem. Right now it is hard to see how this turns around. Are the players that poor and/or is there a coaching issue? Defense seems to be a problem and I am not sure there is a solution that makes next year better.

GB was beaten pretty easily on the glass, YSU made GB work really hard to score in the half court and GB played absolutely zero half court defense. Guys were struggling to stay in front of their man and there was very little help and rotation.
YSU faced no resistance to get their points while GB was under constant extended pressure. In that regard it is amazing that they only lost by 19.
Not having Josh available hurt the game plan but shouldn't have led to this debacle.
One thing that frustrated me is when GB did get to run they didn't convert. It was a 19 point lead when YSU pulled their starters. In the second half Sandy, Parham and Bell all missed run out baskets at the rim. There is 6 points. Sandy forced a Naz turnover that if Bell picks it up is bucket for Sandy. Instead Naz gets it back and goes to the other end for the hoop and the harm. That is a 5 point swing. It could have been an 8 point game. If you are going to play this way you can't give away your easiest buckets.
Take a bad strategy with worse execution and on this night GB looked horrible. When GB's RP40 isn't working it is unwatchable and embarrassing.
I don't believe there is any pressure on coach from the AD and Chancellor. I don't believe there is money available to make such a move anyway. I would caution those who want a change to tread lightly as it might be bad for your mental health getting worked up for something that isn't likely to happen.

Nice take GBPhoenix1, this is my biggest complaint with RP40. If it’s not working then we have zero chance to win ANY game. Usually teams can squeak out wins here and there if their game plan doesn’t work. The inconsistency is alarming.

When RP40 is not working it's unwatchable. Nix were flat, mismatches and late season road weariness. GB missed what Josh had been providing -- the team can't afford missing parts.

Green Bay is 5th in the standings, yet people are acting like they haven’t won a game. It hasn’t been the best season but things could definitely be worse. To all the fools that think Linc is going to be fired, hate to break it to you but it won’t happen this season. Instead of rooting against the coach so that you can post your anti-Linc stuff, try cheering them on and being happy when they win...

The issue is they aren’t even competitive on the road. There’s nothing to cheer for. Last year they had youth as an excuse. This year they don’t. I realize he won’t be fired this year but if they don’t do anything next year with a senior laden team he’s in big trouble.
I expect this team to be in the top 3 in conference each year with the level of talent they get. To say this team isn’t talented enough to be in the top 3 is a flat out lie. Other than maybe NKU they are good enough to beat anyone in this conference. They just have terrible coaching and execution on the road. It has to be in their head at this point. And the coaching staff makes zero adjustments. It’s almost as if they should just forfeit the remaining road games to save their confidence for the tournament.
Linc was hired by MEG cause of his success in conference tournaments and the postseason something wardle and kowalzyck faltered at despite good success during the regular season. So far he is 5-2 covered up by his 4-0 first season. He needs to make a run in the conference tournament this year. Making at least the semis and playing a competitive game while there. Something to keep the fans hopeful. I think he’s already alienated a lot of the fan base who hate this style of play. When rp40 isn’t working even people who defend it like me can’t justify it anymore.

The team I saw live in Eugene for the Oregon game was competitive with a PAC 12 school. That was before a number of Nix players blended into the rotation. Yesterday was a head scratcher but late-season road trips for a mid-major seem to be crapshoots. When we look back at the 2019-20 season it will be judged as an up and down journey. Linc rolled the dice with a handful of JUCO players to bridge a recruiting gap. The high school recruits coming in are impressive. This is a donut team now that needs size. It also needs to consistently work as a team.

I wasn't at the game so maybe this wasn't an issue but on 3 occasions (I believe) GB had their point guard leveled when applying full court pressure. I thought all three screens were legal and that there was a lack of defensive communication all around. Again maybe they were calling stuff out but based on how guys were getting "decleated" it didn't seem like it. The offense should not dictate the defense but on Saturday there was some of that going on from my point of view.

The inconsistency of this team is maddening. Can't play defense in any aspect, and offensively, they are just offensive if they are not driving to the basket. I don't think Linc will get fired after this season if this team ultimately flames out the rest of the regular season/conference tourney. However, aside from a run the HL Tourney, Linc will be on the hot seat for 2019-2020. If BW gets fired from Bradley, maybe we can hire him back if Linc is gone after 2020?
