Wow YSU always seems to play their best game against us, glad we won this time. Yes, I think our free flowing style on offense rubs off on certain teams... I wasn't particularly concerned about the defense, either. Yeah, we give up a ton of points, but that comes with the territory. Also, most teams aren't going to shoot nearly 60% from beyond the arc, even if they are wide open, like YSU did.

Linc will need to get the defense to clamp down as we get closer to conference tournament time. He did it back in 2016, though I'm not sure they have anyone on the current team in the class of Fouse, Love, or Lowe defensively.

I am relieved that they won and moved to 2-0. There are only 3 unbeaten teams in league play and very few people outside of Metro Detroit would have thought that two of those teams would be Oakland and UDM. The table is set to get an early lead in the conference standings.
It is good that Sandy and PJ iced the game at the line. That made up for Tank and Manny really struggling from the line in regulation.
Huge play from Pipes with 30ish seconds left to get the ball back and draw a foul.
If I were a YSU fan I wouldn't like how the game was officiated but I thought they made a lot of tough but accurate calls that went GB's way.
My only issue with the defense is every few plays they get confused in their switching and leave a random guy wide open. On one hand it is nice that usually 4 guys on the court can switch anything yet they don't seem to have this totally down yet. I think if this improves the defense will improve a lot.
Some of the YSU 3 point shots were just tough shots by young talented players, tip your cap to them.
YSU really worked to crowd Sandy. I will give him credit though he impacted the game in other ways and didn't force too much. With that said when he isn't rolling the offense sometimes stalls in terms of player movement. It looks much better when guys keep moving or working to create shots. I thought Kam was great in this regard all game. JayQuan also got rolling after a slow start.
Lets get another W on Saturday and get to 3-0!

What is up with the standing and clapping to start the game? I DO NOT like this at all. Marquette stands until they score and it gets awkward when they don't score for the first couple minutes. Marquette ripped it off from Duke fans. I am all about getting the crowd engaged early, but this seems silly.

WOW! What an exciting game last night! They sure know how to keep everyone engaged for 40min anything can happen! GB took YSU best shots all night and came out on top! YSU shoots over 30 3's a night, games are all about streaks and momentum. GB never really had any "Mo" last night til the last 6 min of regulation. They easily could have been down 20 and lost because YSU never went cold. They didn't fold and Sandy kept giving good effort without scoring much. He needs to understand the unbelievable amount of attention he will continue to get from opposing teams the rest of the way. GB can use that to their advantage individually and as a team.
Unbelievable block by Tank and clutch plays by Pipes (FT) down the stretch! Looks like Coach Linc is stating to figure out a nice rotation with guys, and they need to continue to grow and know their individual roles to help the team win and contribute.
Def is still a struggle at times, but came up big late in the game! Everyone wants to make plays and stay on the floor, but it sometimes ends up hurting them, because they end up out of potion. Sometimes its best not to be noticed (solid), instead of being noticed for letting your guy get a step on you trying to block a shot and putting everyone else at risk. Mono e Mono, will over skill, be better then the guy your guarding, play clean basketball, be a solid foundation to lean on, one block out of place on the foundation of a house can result in the structure crumbling. You can play fast(RP40), Relentless Pressure is making it hard for teams to score and work for an open shot, not always resulting in a steal. Relying on just plain athleticism to block a shot is putting guys in bad postilion.
Coach Linc will continue to teach and get them better! Most of these guys on the roster have always been better than everyone else and have never taught how to play Def consistently. They (palyers) have been a better Athletes than the guy they play against in JC or HS. The higher the level of play, the more you need to understand the concept and will/desire to stop your guy. Its a selfless act (Def) that is not an easy task, especially with the offensive scorers in League play! In past Coach has devised some great game plans to stop guys Example (Alec Peters, Valpo)!
Offensively, we can score and get buckets. I noticed that vs Milwaukee Coach made some great adjustments and ran and few more set plays when they had some lulls instead of just yelling at them to move (Ha). For some reason the flow of the game last night didn't allow that as much, maybe because YSU couldn't miss and they had to grind out a W!
Looking forward to watching another grinder game on Sat! GO NIX!
