Being an aging alum and now a resident of Eugene I have already been faced with a choice for the coming basketball season. My hip replacement surgery is now scheduled for the week after the GB/Oregon game. To his credit the surgeon understands. ;-)

I am surprised that they have to play at BGSU again. I don't mind the game but I wouldn't think that MTE would warrant a second trip to BGSU. MEG and at least one other person in the previous administration used to work for BGSU so who knows what they negotiated. If BGSU comes back to GB next season or they received a solid payday then I really don't have a problem with the game.
I think BGSU should be solid this year. Plus they get a chance to get revenge after losing a game to BGSU that they should have won last year.
I have heard that several people in the athletic department have been talking openly about one of the two remaining games to be announced. It probably is public knowledge to most on here even if it isn't our place to post it. The question is the one other game, will it be at home against a decent opponent? I don't believe the 15 home game minimum is a requirement anymore. However, I would guess they want to play a home game to receive ticket revenue. I doubt fans will want to pay the same price for less games in the season ticket package. They have 4 home NC games, 1 exhibition and 9 conference games. Without lowering ticket prices it seems they are one short at this time.

Today would be the last day that "early next week" would apply- should have a NC schedule soon Hoping for another D1 team to fill out the home schedule and a couple of decent mid major road teams that will come back to GB next year. With the hard slate of D1 Non-conference games, I would bet the other home games are winnable ones. Can't have both I don't think as the non-conference vs Iowa, Michigan State, Creighton, Oregon and Eastern Washington will be tuff so I expect some easy home wins...

We are playing Creighton? Yes, learned that during the basketball golf outing because one of the prizes was a meet and greet with the Creighton coach etc... I believe it will Creighton then Michigan State or the other way as I don't remember complete detail...

When I think of a decent opponent for non conference home games I think of teams in the MVC, Summit, MAC and OVC. These would be programs at the D1 level who make some level of geographic sense to play and will play competitive games that GB can win.
I appreciate that they already have a home game with the MVC, MAC and OVC this year. Even a lower tier Summit, MAC or MVC game at home would be fine by me as the last home game. It it really hard for me to get excited every year by having several low level non d1 games on the schedule.

This unfortunately is going to be the new norm unless by some miracle gb can throw together a couple of ncaa tourney wins consecutive years in a row. Their thought process must be they will get more fans for a Wisconsin d-3 team than Chicago st or Arkansas pine bluff.
What I don’t understand is why they don’t schedule st Norbert’s point or Oshkosh and not some school in bfe Wisconsin if that is their strategy. When they scheduled parkside and superior same thing middle of nowhere schools.
I am a fan that refuses to go to a non d-1 game free or not at this point in my life. I won’t go see Chicago st either though so it’s a horse apiece.
I’m just glad gb plays d-1 basketball because the feel of the program and student section etc screams d-3. Thankfully the players do not although last year at times they looked the part unfortunately.
Is it too much to pray for creighton or Iowa to come here next year? 🤡
The best we can hope for is probably a Missouri valley or wac home game at this point. Gb will not get a power conference to the resch center unless the program hits rock bottom for about five years in a row. I’d rather not see that to get northwestern or Illinois to come here. It stinks.

Non D1s are the norm for a mid major who cant afford to bring in a team without a return game. Most of these teams play garbage teams too. Google Toccoa Falls who played 6-7 teams last year and lost by 60+ in all of them.
No benefit to Linc Darner to play a meaningful game vs St Norbert, Oshkosh or anyone else who has enough experience to battle with you when the game can only hurt you. If Gary Grzesk wasnt at SNC and they were in the middle of the pack of the Midwest conference, that game would happen.
Any word if any of these games are not at the Resch?
Yes the days of GB getting a quality P6 team to come to GB is over. The best chance would be having a 5 star kid come from this area, go to North Carolina, and have Roy Williams book a game to get him back home.
Evansville will be coming here next year. It would be nice to see GB set up series with some of the Dakota teams in the future. The funds are just not there to buy games unless you want to see HBCU schools.
Overall I like the schedule. Four chances to play in big stages and make some $$$ for the program. Home part of the schedule includes three quality programs.

Disappointed the Belmont game is on a Saturday before a Home packer game. Wanted to come up to Green Bay for the night, no way to find a hotel up there now. Hopefully it’s a good turn out for the game, lots of people in town for the packer game.

Wisconsin has TBD for their home NC game on December 13th. I wonder if they approached GB about that date? Without looking at a school calendar that may be during finals week. Guessing the guys will be done with finals before flying down to Omaha for a Friday night game.
It also shows how tough it is to schedule these games if a school like UW cannot find a team to play them for $100k by August 21st!

I hope you're right phoenixphan87.....If so, could we drop the UW-Stout game at home on 12/11, and ask Crighton to move their game against us from 12/14 to 12/15? After the 12/14 game versus GB, Creighton does not have a game until Oklahoma (in Norman) on Tuesday, 12/18. That would give GB a day in between a potential UW game and Crieghton. There should not be a conflict with other potential events according to the CenturyLink Center website.

I was thinking more about Wisconsin asking us about that date before we decided to play Creighton. Maybe Wisconsin was real stubborn on that date and if its finals week GB decided it wasn't worth it? Wisconsin looks foolish at this point with a TBD opponent who I am guessing will be pretty terrible or possibly even a non D1.
