I don’t expect them to be world beaters this year but you don’t lose by 18 to your rival when they are just as bad as you. I hate losing to Milwaukee as much as anyone and the careless turnovers are just killing me. Milwaukee, however, is capable of good games and may be even more inconsistent than we are. They have had their share of bad losses but they also beat Iowa State and Loyola by convincing margins.

I would hope GB can get Loyola on their schedule next year.

Having a week to reflect back on this game a few things stand out.
1. As UWM was being introduced the GB starters were standing around on the court. They looked like they were getting ready for a REC league game. I didn't see any of the players taking a leadership role. Coach Darner clapped his hands twice in encouragement right before the tip off but he wasn't doing much. Milwaukee started the game with an 8-0 run before GB needed a timeout. I was thinking to myself no s**t Milwaukee dominated, our entire team was asleep.
2. Who did the scouting and thought Jespersen could match up with Nze? That match up had no chance for GB. After the timeout they didn't switch it up either. Was I the only person who watched Nze kill that match up?
3. Turnovers. Two guys had 6 each. One is a senior and the team leader. That shouldn't happen. The other is reserve freshman, at what point do you sit him down so he stops turning it over?
4. Thankfully Manny Patterson is on the team. A nice game with a variety of ways to contribute.
5. UWM Panther Arena is a nice venue. It is sad state of affairs that this game, on a Friday night, could only draw 1973 people. I will say this, I wouldn't go back if I were a casual fan either though. Nothing against the program in Milwaukee, just the arena staffing was a joke. They only had 3 concession stands open, unless you walked all the way around the building to the pizza stand you were going to wait in a line 10 deep to get something. I know it is chicken and the egg type stuff but make it fan friendly, maybe people would come back. It is Milwaukee, WI on a Friday night for goodness sake...have a beer only line going.
6. Finally I was numb watching this loss. GB has had their butt kicked plenty of times in this building. Those were mostly by Bruce Pearl led awesome teams. Losing like this to this version of Milwaukee, well that is not a good feeling.
