An interesting journey from North Chicago, to Murray State, to UWM to Highland. He was rated pretty highly coming out of the high school and is Highland's leading scorer lat time I checked.

not sure what all happened at Milwaukee but from the article it appears he will be a welcomed addition. This year is a rebuilding year but next year should not be.

He was at Murray state starting in the 2014-15 year but left in October of 2014 without ever playing. He ended up at Milwaukee starting in the second semester of the 14-15 year and played part of the 2015-16 year. He apparently wasn't anywhere in 2016-17. He is playing JUCO ball for a former Milwaukee coach in 2017-18. So does that mean he can only play one year for GB one year or does he have two?
No matter what, I know talent has never been the issue for him. He has good size for a guard as well. I think he will be a welcome addition to GB.
I wonder if PantherU can shed any light on his time in Milwaukee.

He should have two years to play if I’m guessing.

The way I see things, one McCloud is not enough. wcfcourier.com/sports/college/uni/mens_basketball/mccloud-leaving-uni-basketball-program/article_3c25ba81-3ecd-5b7c-bf19-98a9197cf274.htmlJuwan McCloud is a guard from Germantown, WI that is leaving Northern Iowa after two years. He apparently wants a fresh start closer to home. I can't imagine he will get released to another MVC team or be good enough for a big east/big ten team so that leaves GB, Milwaukee, UIC, Northern Illinois and Chicago State as D1 programs closer to home than Northern Iowa. He hasn't shot very well at UNI but he does get in the paint and he does like to run. I would take a flyer on him if I were in charge. Side note, this is who I thought was coming back in December because their names are so similar!

I’ll bet my lunch money he ends up in Milwaukee. GB never offered him out of high school and it looks like Milwaukee did.
He would be a transfer I would be interested in though.
If he likes to get out and run then Linc’s offense would be for him!
So we’ll see!
UPDATE: He even mentions UW-Milwaukee in the below link. It also says he would listen to other local schools as well though.

I liked McCloud at Germantown but we may have enough guards.
If we add another guard I would prefer a bigger guard like Anderson from Oshkosh North.

Based on that quote GB has some catching up to do. The good news is his previous offer at Milwaukee was from Rob Jeter. Coach Baldwin is recruiting JUCO point guards who can play right now. So someone will have to move on, he might have to wait for a scholarship or they will change their plans at UWM.
I don't worry too much about GB not offering before. Linc Darner was hired on 4/15/15. McCloud committed to UNI on 5/10/15. GB then put all of their effort into Trevor Anderson who committed on 8/26/15. So Darner didn't even have a chance with McCloud in all reality.
Personally I don't think GB has enough guards. Well they have enough bodies but not enough guys to do what they need. One thing about this past year was RP40 died a quiet death. Sure the team played fast on offense and on defense they guarded the ball end to end. However, they didn't have anyone applying real ball pressure end to end. How many steals did Pipes, Crist or Hankerson get pressuring the ball that they took to the other end this year? Not many. Carrington Love made a living doing that. I think McCloud looks like Love 2.0 and I would love to have him. On the current roster Cohen is the only guy I see getting steals and scoring but he doesn't guard the ball coming up the court.
To me the bottom line for Darner right now is he has sucked at getting WI high school players to commit to GB. So he better be really good at getting the kids who transfer back. GB is only 90 miles further away from Germantown then Milwaukee is.

I am going retrack my lunch money bet on McCloud and going to MKE. Now I know no one really knows what’s going on besides him and the coaches but apparently MKE really needs a PG and can’t wait on a player to sit out a year. Well at least that’s what the fans are saying on the Panther message board... ha
