Thumbs up on the Kress decision -- the jury is out on the logo. The GB logo does emphasize the school's biggest asset -- the international recognition of Green Bay thanks to the Packers.

It's about damn time GB did this since the Kress was built. Even when GB had halfway decent teams under TK and the near NCAA tournament teams BW had, GB was not going to sell out the Resch Center during early season games.
One gripe of this year's schedule......Why aren't we playing Mich. Tech. on the regular season slate? Wisconsin Lutheran (and UW-Stout) is a low-level D3 program. At least Mich. Tech. is D2.....

The women are playing Northwestern opening night (Nov 6) so that explains the 11:30am game vs Wisconsin Lutheran. The crowd will be much better for a exhibition game vs Michigan Tech at 7PM than the day game. Id rather play Michigan Tech in a game that doesn't count with so many new faces than play scholarship players in a game that will count. No benefit playing any non D1 school that is any good.

They needed to do this since the Kress was built.....It's also better to have the early season NC games at the Kress since they are not as well attended at the Resch historically (or at least since the later years of the Mike Heideman era), with the exception of Wisconsin, MSU, or Virginia visiting GB. You see this on a larger scale with Big East teams like Villanova and St John's.
Other than having 2 D3 games on the schedule (Mich Tech should have been on the regular season sched and Wis Luth be the exhibition game, IMO), I do like the layout this season.

For the upcoming season it looks like 14 home games are scheduled. Ten are at the Resch and four at the Kress.
We know that one of the Resch games is the SNC exhibition. We know that two of the Kress games are Indiana State and Superior.
That leaves nine more Horizon League Resch games and two more Horizon League Kress games.
I believe season tickets are on sale. Hopefully enough people are interested going forward to make Kress games a thing of the past.

I like the Resch/Kress hybrid……Unless there is a bigger name NC opponent (Power 6 team or high profile mid major program), those early season NC games aren’t attended well (deer hunting, Packer season, or winter weather if in late Nov-early Dec).

Here's how the hybrid schedule shakes out this season according to the official team website.
If you kept all the dates and opponents the same here's how I would have split up the home schedule this season (my thoughts in bold):
10/29 (Friday) / St. Norbert / Resch / Since it's an exhibition I would play this at the Kress. 11/9 (Tuesday) / Indiana State / Kress / This is sadly the marquee non-con home game and should be at the Resch. 11/27 (Saturday) / UW-Superior / Kress / agreed. Saturday night at the Resch could be an OK draw but non-D1 relegates this to the Kress. 12/2 (Thursday) / Robert Morris / Resch / agreed. 12/4 (Saturday) / Youngstown State / Kress / looks like a conflict at the Resch so this makes sense. 1/5 (Wednesday) / Milwaukee / Resch / breathtakingly stupid for the HL to play this on a Wednesday but thankfully it's at the Resch. 1/13 (Thursday) / IUPUI / Resch / agreed. 1/15 (Saturday) / UIC / Resch / agreed. 1/20 (Thursday) / Detroit Mercy / Resch / agreed. 1/22 (Saturday) / Oakland / Resch / agreed. 2/9 (Wednesday) / Wright State / Resch / agreed but another potential decent draw stuck on a Wednesday. 2/11 (Friday) / Northern Kentucky / Kress / don't get this one at all. Krash the Kress maybe? Should be Resch. 2/18 (Friday) / Purdue Fort Wayne / Kress / don't get this one at all. Krash the Kress maybe? Should be Resch. 2/20 (Sunday) / Cleveland State / Kress / this has to be a typo, right? No Resch conflict that I can see.
So if we're keeping the hybrid schedule I would play the SNC exhibition, UW-Superior, YSU, and either NKU or PFW at the Kress and the rest at the Resch. I do see some Gamblers hockey conflicts with NKU and PFW so that could explain that but for some reason I always thought GB had scheduling priority at the Resch. Maybe that changed with the last extension.

One of the reasons I became a fan of GB hoops was of the experience of going to the games. Pregamed at the bars around the Resch, went to the game and then out again afterwards. Playing games at the Kress takes this out of the question. The administration just needs to make up their damn mind. Either all the Kress or all at the Resch.

That really pisses me off UWM game is not on a weekend. The horizon league punted gbs home schedule this year.
That game might have gotten 6k on a Friday Saturday or Sunday. Now will be lucky to get half that smh. I had friends from Madison will to come down for that game if it were on a weekend. I’m sure there were many other causals willing to do the same as well. What a shame.
Bad enough we don’t get marquee non conference games anymore.

There are good business and logistics reasons to play some games at the Kress. I think a split of 8 Resch and 6 Kress is too many given the notes listed above by Phearthephoenix.
The rivalry games around the league being on Wednesday and Sunday...I probably will need someone to explain the reasons to me because on the surface that doesn't make sense.
This is a true chicken and the egg moment for the program and the league. If you are like me and want to play at the Resch and play rivals at marquee times then you have to buy tickets and get involved. Boycotting or cherry picking select games gives the program and the league more reason to play these games at a less desirable venue and at less desirable times if nobody is showing up anyway. So buy tickets and vote with your positive action.

Did some digging and over the past 4 years (including this years game against ISU). Green Bay has a 5-4 record of playing at the Kress. THREE of these games were in the CBI tournament we made it to the final too.
I DID NOT take into account any non-division 1 team we played at the Kress. We won all of those as we should.
So in regular season play Green Bay has a 2-4 record in the last 4 years of playing at the Kress. Is this something the admin should be looking at? Does the Kress give us the best home court advantage? I dont think it does. I don't think the fans are as into it as they are at the Resch center. The Resch Center gives us that more of a home court feel IMO.
Now I know I may get ripped for this one because in the end its about how you play on the court and not whats going on off the court. Something to think about.
I am excited to see how Mr. Moon moves forward on this and I hope forward is less games at the Kress and more at the Resch. You will draw more casual fans at the Resch than the Kress. I was one of those casual fans who decided to go to a Green Bay game on a Saturday evening at the Resch due to the arena's location and then became hooked ever since. If those games were at the Kress then I highly doubt I would of came out that way.
Either way go GREEN BAY
