Lost in all this is the ethical nuance -- all of us would defend the young man and his right to chase his dream -- he just needed to do it showing genuine respect for Darner and GB. That respect would have been best done by making a decision immediately after the season. Absent from the article above is any sign of respect for the program he's leaving and the people who invested so much in him. That needs to be front and center every time he talks to the media or anyone else. So far all I've seen from Anderson is an initial window dressing comment.

I don't begrudge Anderson for following his dreams. I do agree that less is more with his commentary as this article does come across in the I have been thinking for awhile that I am too good for Mid Major hoops.
I really enjoyed Pipes breaking Luke Loewe's ankles in that video.
I have floated this in the past and I normally don't do this level of stalking but Anthony Brown pleaded and paid a fine. He hasn't changed his twitter to remove GB. He has very few if any followers from other colleges. I wonder if he is going to return to Green Bay after making as much amends as he can.

Green Bay's staff, faculty(yes and even coaches), and teammates. They are both transferring to Power 5 conferences, not low D1, or D2. Kanter could have transferred last year if he recieved(what is it you say no coaching), he hardly played Darner's first year, prime opportunity to transfer and didn't. This is the landscape of college basketball today, especially graduated athletes with one year of eligibility left. I disagree that Kanter could have left last year and been on scholarship at a P5 level school. He didn't have his degree to become immediately eligible and he didn't have much of a resume either. I doubt anyone in their right mind would have used two years of a scholarship on him last year. Being a grad transfer and having a strong 20 game run changed his world of opportunities and he bailed ASAP. Right now what I am seeing is that the guys who play the slowest and are the least athletic aren't staying to finish out their career in the RP40 system. GB has also been the beneficiary of the transfer situation with Cohen and Schwartz. The problem is instead of being in position to dominate the HL with the incoming guys, they are just back to being in position to compete because of the outgoing guys which is where my disappointment comes from.

I don't hate him personally, I hate the way he is acting and handling the situation...Not a lot of class or respect being shown, if he is serious about a hoops career, that's something he will have to learn pretty quickly. 2. It actually made me laugh out loud 3. I'd love to see Anthony come back. There hasn't been confirmation that he is leaving the university so maybe Linc is going to make him earn his way back on the team. I like his game, I don't love it, but we will need a ball handler which he has shown a decent capability to do.

Anthony Brown's return could be a good thing in this situation.
Linc will help him if it's at all possible.

Lets flip the equation and realize the players and potential recruits have a unique opportunity because of the situation. Anderson's timing sucks but it is what it is. In this situation Karma goes to Darner and the Green Bay program.

Looks like PJ will be starting at this point, I'm pumped! I don't know enough about Pipes to judge whether or not he could start as a freshman, but Green Bay has had some very good experience with starting freshman guards. Two of the more recent being Fletcher and Sykes. I would be more than happy to have anything near either of their freshman performances.

It is too bad that Anderson made those comments and time will tell if he ever gets to play for them. I did read he said he was not into the pace the Phoenix play and I would agree with that. He is not the most athletic kid out there and was not a perfect fit. Linc wants kids that can get up and down the floor with speed and athleticism. So with that, I have excited for the incoming freshman coming in and think Pipes will be up for the challenge to be the lead guard. He seems like the perfect fit for the point guard position under Linc. Also, with him working out and getting stronger he should be able to take advantage of some guards in the post and on the perimeter.
Finally I understand a kid from Wisconsin growing up and dreaming of playing for the Badgers but the timing of him leaving could have been better. To do it this late in the summer was a slap in the face to Linc and the program. However, Linc in resilient and will overcome this with the kids he has coming in.

I was about to post the above Tweeter response from Venci. It re-enforces my earlier reaction to the situation. TA entitled to his decision but he owed Darner much more courtesy. Sad.

Anderson's Horizon League stats for the 8 games he played were 8 starts, 25.5 minutes/game, 6.6 ppg., 28.6% for overall field goals, and 27.6% three-point field goals. Not exactly awesome stats (nor his stats from the Kansas State & Wisconsin games) to move up to the Big Ten.
Really happy to see P.J. Pipes working out and getting ready. Would hope all the returning players and all the new recruits are working hard and getting ready also as there is plenty of opportunity to contribute. Hopefully, they all will stay loyal to the program for their remaining years regardless of how much they "improve" or "perceive that they have improved".

I am a bit of a glass half empty guy, I am a bit concerned that two players jump ship one early in his career the other the opposite. Is this a sign of dissension in the ranks. Or simply one guy with an NBA dream an another who may have discovered he is not a fit for the current coach and system??
