I think this signing COULD be good, but I really hope we don't go down the TK road where we only get local guys versus going after better talent a little further away when the opportunity presents itself. Lets see. We signed Bell from Chicago suburb, Pipes from Chicago suburb, Patterson from Chicago, Turner is from Chicago by way of Florida JC, Baines is from Wyoming JC. We have Will & Sandy local talents. Sounds like we have been all over in signing guys! Take a look at the scholarships we've offered to the classes of 2018 and 2019, 80% (8 of 10) of those are local guys. Not really even a sniff of any of what I would consider our pipelines, FL (because of Linc and Tyler Kelly), IL (for various reasons) and IA/midwest JUCO (Herbst). I don't want us to fall behind at getting looks at guys outside of NE Wisconsin.

Maybe Avery Brown is leaving? I think that'd be the only way that GB gets Wampler or Whitens For what its worth, anyway, Avery still has "UWGB '19" as his bio on his pretty up to date Twitter, so if I had to take a guess right now, I'd say he's staying.

Having these local guys will help put more butts in the seats which in the end will help the program grow. $$$$$$$ is good.

One of the criticisms of TK was that he was unable to land local talent. He did not do too bad when you look at the entire state but there were very few recruits from NE Wisconsin.

By "local" I meant WI.

Welcome home to Cody. I am not surprised that he is coming home. In one of the threads I was mentioning his SJSU stats going back to January. With that said I think he is a very nice addition to GB. He has plenty of talent he just has to apply it. He seemed lost and a bit timid at SJSU. When he was in the games he seemed afraid to miss 3's. Plus he moves like a guard, he looks the part but he pretty much just hung out on the perimeter this past year. He shot 38% from deep but the crazy stats are 89 of 106 shots were 3's and he only attempted 10 free throws. With how he can move on the court that just screams a guy who didn't know where he fit so he just did the one thing he knew he could do well.
I think in the Darner system he will feel more comfortable and mix it up inside a bit more. There is no reason he can't be a Schachtner or even Alec Peters type of player in the HL.
The 2018-19 season is shaping up to be very good for GB.
