From what I've seen, most prospects like to play out the July recruiting period since there are always a lot of coaches watching. It seems like a lot of recruits heading into their senior year like to play out July with their AAU team and then commit somewhere before the high school season starts.
Trevian Bell and Will Chevalier both committed to GB right after the July period last year. PJ Pipes committed in September.
Obviously this is not the case with everyone, look at John Diener. He committed to DePaul months ago. On the flip side, Manny Patterson didn't commit until the end of March after his high school season.
TL;DR - it's somewhat rare for recruits to commit this early, but who knows. Maybe we'll get lucky!
