He looks like an interesting prospect. He certainly looks to move the ball and share it with open teammates. He has a good handle and jump shot. I get the impression that he isn't a high level athlete and that is likely holding back his recruiting a bit. I see him as a Carrington Love type player, over four years he will be crafty enough to score and distribute even if his game is played below the rim.

PJ likes to golf. ;-)
"One thing we pride ourselves with at Illinois Hoop Scout is our ability to spot a diamond in the rough. A kid that may not be well known, but has the potential to be a steal for a college coach. Well we have found one. P.J. Pipes from Lemont High School. P.J. is a solid prospect who every coach we talk to seems to think can be something really special in the south west suburbs. The kid is a very strong combo guard that has floor vision well beyond his age. But, what we really love is his combination of speed and strength. The kid knows how to use his body and finish against the competition. Seems to always notice when a smaller guard is on him, and instantly knows to take advantage of the situation.
PJ had a solid spring/summer running with the ET12 Bukeyes, and also Lemont summer league, and his fundamentals(Shot form, footwork, court vision)looked solid. P.J. seems to have that work ethic that college coach just love to have in a player. He is constantly improving his game, and every time he takes the court he is getting better. His frame of 6’1.5 and 175 is a frame that will be 6’3 and 190 by senior year. I had the chance to ask P.J. and his high school coach a few questions and we loved the answers. See for yourself:
What is the season outlook for Lemont? Comment: " I see P.J. as a combo guard who will take on the pressure of being the team's primary ball handler but who has the ability to score. He carries a presence that kids are attracted to and makes him a natural leader. His development this year will have a direct impact on Lemont's success as a team." Coach Runaas- Lemont head coach
Also what do you like to do outside of basketball? I am an active member of my church and youth group. I golf and hanging out and spending time with friends. As a freshman, I was all conference in golf and played on the varsity team. I also like watching my friends play their sport."
Illinois hoops scout loves this kid as a player and person. As of now we see P.J. as a small D-1, or D-2 level. But we will put on the record now that we won’t be surprised if we are wrong and someone high comes a knocking one day.

Article above that thetulsawarrior put on was written Sept. 2014 before Pipes sophomore year. This past year as a junior Pipes was selected IBCA 3A/4A fourth team all-state (Illinois). Average 20.1 ppg., shot 35.3% from three and 81.4% on free throws.

Looks like a good player! Linc sure is having success in the Chicago area with 3 players coming so far.
Now if we could just get word on how that official visit went for that guy named Manny....
Go Phoenix! On the way up

This is good news. I suspect other HL teams will find him to be a pest, which is a compliment. Other players might make more impressive highlights but Pipes should make plenty of winning plays.
I like that GB has landed 3 players from the Chicago area. It is very important for GB to consistently get talent from that area.

Every one of his jump shots looks the same - and that's good.
Nobody touched him in that highlight reel and we didn't see him on defense. Hopefully he can learn to take a beating and since Linc recruited him I'm sure his defense is very good or better.
I like him.
