Don't know anything about this kid since it was a few years ago. I just have seen his name mentioned before. So I figured I would post it. Probably not a surprise to some fans. DeBerry bounced around a little bit before landing at Kent State. I am not sure why it didn't work out but fits with his past. He looks the part and really wasn't a bad mid major player. I will be curious to see where he lands. He is at Utah Valley now, a big step down for a kid who was supposed to be really good coming out of hs

I wonder if this a potential walk on with a chance to earn a scholarship. I was thinking this could be a 5 for 4 kind of deal where he might walk on next year on his own and get a scholarship for the next 4 (what Wardle offered Cody Wichmann) From what I read he is a pretty good athlete, he plays QB for the football team as well. The few videos I have watched he looked decent but they were all him attacking the hoop against inferior players so it was hard to tell. I will say this, I like that they are recruiting the U.P. a little bit. Now there aren't a ton of guys up there but they have a great shot at getting the guys up there that they want. In the past schools from the Dakota's have had a ton of success coming into WI and getting guys. Perhaps GB can start their own pipeline with this guy and Castor. The major downside of this guy is his name invokes Dallas Cowboy tight end memories...yuck

I saw him, Trevian Bell and PJ Pipes all sitting in the same area. A great game to take in that's for sure!

I'll tell you what, all of these recruits gotta be excited for next year. In watching the game today I realized only three players for UWGB who played willl be back next season. 3 out of the 5 spots next season will be up for grabs come next year and with the way Linc plays his bench there will be more than enough PT to go around. Excited for the future but first I'm excited for the present! GO PHOENIX.

When I read they had another 6'5" recruit at the game I was a bit puzzled as we really need a big man in this class. So, using my deductive reasoning I came up with a scenario that Anthony Brown is not coming back and they are now looking to fill that roster spot. Not sure I am correct but at this time it seems to make sense to me.

A massive assumption at this time and place. Whiten is an under recruited type who reminds me of some kid Bennett picked up from Dawson, Minnesota. Everyone though that guy was going to play football in college.

A much safer assumption is that Whitens will be a preferred walk-on at most.

A much safer assumption is that Whitens will be a preferred walk-on at most. I agree. I'm pretty sure his only basketball scholarship offers right now are from Division II schools Northern Michigan and Lake Superior State. I think this would be a preferred walk-on with the opportunity to earn a scholarship. It'll be interesting to see if he wants to play football or basketball

Darner and Company have done well with transfers and JUCO recruits. The preferred walk-on route is another solid way to add talent at a low risk for the player and the team.

Pritzle continues to get clock with the Badgers. Heldt continues to be recognized as a hard worker but in sparse minutes with few stats recorded. Schwartz is pretty much a bench warmer at this point. He had 1 minute in the SJSU win over SDSU. He plays like a big guard but would seem to thrive with Darner.
I am surprised that GB hasn't been looking at Taylor Bruninga at all. A big guy out of Illinois who can shoot and isn't getting big time looks, seems like an attainable fit for GB.

This kid was offered by Buzz Williams and Marquette at a real young age. One of the leaders for the best high school team in the state
