Here's Rob Demovsky's preview and story on GB's Chicago homecoming.Hopefully the guys come out focused tonight. Loyola was awful most of the year, but is really coming on now. They've won 2 of 4, and the losses were @ Butler by 6, and @ Valpo Tuesday night in overtime. Germantown's Ben Averkamp is a stud. GB couldn't land him because the school doesn't have an engineering program, but how did UWM miss out on him? Cool to read so many of the players former teammates will be in the audience. Could there be some future Phoenix there?

This won't be a gimmie for GB since they haven't swept the Chicago teams on the road since 1998-99. With how well GB has been playing and the opportunity for them to get 6th place and host the 1st round HL tourney game, they can't screw this one up.

With Loyola only averaging 2,274 fans per night in their brand new arena, I wonder what percentage of those in attendance tonight will be cheering for Green Bay? 30%? 40%?

wow great game, troubling to see they couldn't close it out in regulation though, alec has to make those free throws at such a crucial time in the game. One of the best games i have watched in all of the ncaa, what a clutch shot by kam

Two huge 3's from Kam. I loved to see it because Loyola really did a great job taking him out of his groove.
It was big to see GB overcome so many miscues. Alec missing the front end of the bonus. Cougill with a bad inbounds pass for a late turnover. Giving up the offensive rebound at the end of regulation. Sykes missing the open layup in OT. Yet they never backed down and kept fighting.
I would have been crushed to lose, I felt like GB controlled the game most of the way.
Cougs with a nice offensive game and a huge 3 late. He certainly struggled on defense and had a few frustrating turnovers.
depending on how things shake out udm, uwm, ysu and gb are looking at 10 wins in the season. i would love to see a breakdown of what the best and worst case scenarios are for GB.

Big win. The end of that game was an emotional rollercoaster. GB's Chicago 5-some was really bailed out by their teammates in this one. The Chicagoans went 7-25 from the floor while the rest went 21-35 with 9-3's. Hopefully our Chicago boys return the favor Saturday. Here's Rob Demovsky's game story, featuring Steve Bakers unselfish game-winning assist. As for scenario's to get the 6th seed, here's what I see. YSU is the team we can leap over, we will likely win the head to head tie-breaker with them. However, we can't finish tied with more than YSU, or we'll lose the tie-breaker. That means we need a UWM win to move up to 6th. If we finish tied with UWM and YSU, we will get stuck with the 7th seed. Detroit needs to beat YSU. Butler needs to finish seeded ahead of Detroit, but loses a head to head tie-breaker if tied with Detroit. Confused yet? Most likely scenario might be The Nix finish 10-8 but travel to Milwaukee on Tuesday. Not the worst destination if we have to travel.

I forgot to give Steve Baker his due. He made some clutch 3's, had the game winning assist and some huge rebounds (even though GB didn't score but did chew up the clock). Pat Knight had a rant this week about playing like seniors. Bake is a guy who is playing like a senior right now. That is pretty cool.
