Incredible find and steal by Coach Darner and staff. Hankerson is quickly moving up the charts in Michigan after this summer. He plays PG, 2 and can be a wing, He will be cuttin' down the nets in Detroit soon !! ipsbasketball.com/phoenix_lands_novi_wing

I am typically not a believer that a good summer camp should really be able to boost a kid from obscurity to the D1 conversation. Hopefully he pans out, but his stats were looking suspect. Raw, yes. Could he develop, certainly, but right now I think we need to aim higher.

It's impossible to teach athleticism. This is a gamble based on a potential rising stock. Not a bad bet for an experienced coach who has been around the block a few times. It may or may not turn out -- a low risk -- potentially high dividend prospect. Truth be told this is exactly the kind of recruit Darner needs to look at -- a sleeper.

I will give this verbal my stamp approval. He has a really nice shooting form but also works to get to the rim. He has good size for a SG and looks very coordinated. Add that he is from Michigan which is a state GB has never been able to recruit and I am even more pleased. I don't see many better prospects out there of the kids GB has been recruiting. Welcome to GB Kameron. I think he will be better than the last Kameron and last late bloomer from Michigan (Adrian Schaeffer) that GB brought in.

I will second what GBPhoenix1 said above. With Linc's staff (2 of 3 assistants with prior D2 HC experience) much more experienced than BW's staff (no coaches with HC experience), I will trust that Linc and staff will develop those players who are athletic but may be lacking in the skills department. The weakness with BW was that he brought in a lot of athletes, but the skill development as a group was not there. The last 3 seasons under BW were horrendous from the 3pt shooting and FT department.

I have seen Hankerson play a number of times. He is a steal. Also, he is very versatile as he played PG for his HS team and in AAU and yet is ranked the #2 Wing in the state. a 6'4 pg who can play 1,2, or 3. The thing about Hankerson is that he runs like a deer, gets up and down the court very fast with the ball and can get to the hole. His 3pt shooting is rapidly improving.

Wolverinegbfan thank you for the insight on the newest phoenix. After reading the posts i am very excited to see him in a nix uniform jumping over the horizon league players. He sounds like he is a hard worker that is coming into his own and Linc and crew did their homework and landed him.

Next year, I think he'll play a little but it will be a development year for him. In 2017-2018 I think he's got the potential to start at a wing spot,.

Mark my words, Hankerson will have a better career than Trevor Anderson. Anderson screams Turner Botz all over, a serviceable player, but not one who will be one to build a program around. Hankerson is more versatile and will assume the Fouse stat-stuffer role, he'll be a good one.

I would hope Anderson and Hankerson could both have great careers.
I really believe Anderson has the potential to be a very good player at the mid-major level someday. He's completely different than Turner Botz in terms of what he offers as Botz is more of a wing forward and Trevor can play either the 1 or 2 spot.
In terms of pure athleticism, I get it Anderson isn't a high flying dunker or flashy, but I think he's deceptively quick and has a really strong sturdy build that makes up for the fact that he's not the guy who will jump out of the gym.
Okay, I know it feels kind of wrong to say this about a kid that has never played a college game, but Trev Anderson is the closest guy I can think of coming into UWGB that has skills and game similar to what Tony Bennett did when he came in the program in 1988. Tony might have been a better pure athlete (he became an NBA player for crying out loud), but there are many things about Anderson that bring some deja vu back as to what Tony Bennett was like back in the '80s and early '90s. I think he's bigger and stronger than Tony was coming in, probably not as quick as Tony who was incredibly quick, but I think he's quicker than some might think.
Hey it would be great if someday we talk about Hankerson and Anderson as some of the best to ever suit up for UWGB, but I personally would never bet against Trev Anderson from what I have seen from him. He is one heck of a player.
