Quick turnaround for the Phoenix as Youngstwon St visits The Resch Center Tuesday night. YSU has been outstanding at times, but also inconsistent overall. I guess that happens when your entire offense relies on the 3 point shot. Center Damian Eargle is a defensive force and should win conference defensive player of the year.
Predictive stat sources like The Gamer Project and RPI Forecast have the Nix winning a close one. Believe it or not, this team still has a serious shot at hosting a HL tourney 1st round game. I think a strong finish is within our reach.

GB needs to finsh out some of these games that they let slip away in the last couple minutes. They'll have to win the last 4 conference games; fortunately, their last 2 road games are at Loyola and UIC. But they will need an upset against CSU if they want to host a game in the 1st round of the HL tourney.
Is it me, or is the HL very mediocre this season??

Hopefully the team isnt too tired as this will be their 3rd game in 5 days, although being at home should help.
Green Bay leads the all-time series with YSU 23-7, including an impressive 15-1 at home. The Penguins lone win in Green Bay was a 65-61 victory at the brand new Resch Center in the 2003 Horizon League Tournament.

Let's hope GB plays really tough man defense and takes away the perimeter shot for YSU. I would hope the overall trend in this series returns to normal tonight.

Vegas has us as 5 point favorites. Hopefully we can get a nice win and some help to climb up to the 6 seed

Phoenix win 71-65. box score-Phoenix were out of sync early offensively but defended well all night. -YSU's Blake Allen is a very impressive scorer. He hit some very contested shots. -Terry Johnson got decent minutes tonight to give us more defensive quickness. All of his minutes were as a SG. Offensively he forced a few shots we didn't need. -Kiefer Sykes is improving as fast as I've ever seen a player grow. -Damian eargle had 3 blocks, but wasn't the defense force he usually is. -YSU is somewhat unconventional, and gets teams to play to their style. -Cougill had 17 points and 11 boards, but would be even better if he cut down the turnovers. He is getting too sloppy with the ball. -Strong close out in the final minutes by the Phoenix to put this game away. Cougill's 3 point answer to Allen's fade away step back 3 was huge.

To me they looked tired in the 1st half but came out in the 2nd half like a different team. At times Cougill was unreal. Fighting for a rebound and getting a put back with 3 players hanging on him. At other times he just threw the ball to a spot even when there was no player there. But he has skills and plays hard, he just seems to lose focus sometimes on the easy, non contested play. But we wouldn't be winning with out him. The finish was one of the best I've seen in many years. Sykes is in a class by himself. Last but not least Alec gets slapped by 2-3 players, no call. What are the ref's looking at. You could hear it from the stands, his arms must be red after the game from the beating he takes during the game? You can see when they play as a team it's hard to stop them. Well done Phoenix!!!!

Hopefully the 'Nix can go on a 2010 Packer-like run at the end of the season. They've been playing pretty well lately, just have to close out games like they did last night. That was fun to watch

that game is a perfect example why cougil needs to have perimeter touches, 2-5 three pointers, and 5 assists.
