Back on the road for another tough match-up. detroit has really played well lately. Phoenix need to avoid turnovers, and make some 3's. They've been better at both lately. Here a preview from Rob DemovskyI think I'll watch the stream of this today. Hoping for a huge effort, payback for the home game we had but let slip away late. Sykes foul trouble was a major issue then, hope he avoids fouls today. I wonder if Humphrey will take some turns against McCallum to take the workload off Sykes?

Great half by the Phoenix. Up 38-31. Baker with 11, including 3 makes beyond the arc.

Nix miss a pair of 3's at the buzzer and lose by 3. Close, but not quite enough. Time to get back home and keep battling.

box scoreJust a few more turnovers was the difference today. Nix shoot 50% from the floor and from the arc. Both teams made their free throws.

Press-Gazette game recapCheck out the attendance. Detroit drew just 1,923 for this game. That is an awful crowd by any measure especially a weekend game. Our attendance is poor, but awesome when compared to some of the other teams in the conference.

As with many young teams and we are one of the youngest NCAA div.1 teams in the nation. We have to learn to finish off an opponent and that should come with experience. I still think Alec gets called for fouls just because he's bigger than the other guy by Horizon ref's. I always say there's a reason there reffing Horizon league and not Big Ten, but watching Alec get mugged on offense (no call) and make a clean block and get called on defense gets old. Keep play hard guys and it will fall in place. Should be fun tomorrow night.

Tough loss for GB especially blowing a big lead. It felt like the pressure and trapping defense really bothered GB. Armstead could barely get the ball up the court to start the game and Keifer had some issues as well in the second half. Plus Chase Simon is a really hard matchup for GB with his size and mid range shooting.
We did see more flashes from Greg Mays. We did see Keifer and Alec do their thing on offense. I think over time Armstead has the skill/ability to play a lot like Chase Simon does.
Bottom line just another close road loss, a bit of set back after winning on the road and having a big second half lead.
