Hey Circle70, welcome!!.....UIC along with UWM should be near the top of the HL standings year in and year out based on their locations, access to basketball talent, size of schools, and their budgets. I remember the UIC teams under Bob Hallberg, which nearly knocked out GB in 1994 in the Mid-Con Tourney final (at the Rosemount Horizon in Chicago no less). The next season, UIC and Xavier had great teams that rolled through the HL, but were upset early on in the tourney.
Maybe Bob Hallberg can resurrect the UIC program. I know he was AD at St. Xavier and is currently the women's BB coach.

Circle70 thanks for joining our board and providing the information you did. I really feel bad for you as there does not appear to be a light at the end of the tunnel, only continued futility due to Howard Moore. The Goober AD about sums up the issues you are having and will not change. To me 5 years is plenty to show what you can do. I have not tracked your last recruiting classes and was wondering if you see any potential in them? It pains me to say but Jeter in Miwaukee has brought in some talent that should allow them to contend. Just am not sure about UIC's potential players. I have driven through Chicago quite a bit lately taking my daughter to tennis tourneys and the sport building next to the highway looks nice. Good luck with your team. Thanks for the welcome and well wishes, buzz95. Regarding our recruiting, the previously mentioned "spin doctor" thinks next year's class is Moore's best yet (is that saying much? ) . Regarding next year, I think it's way too early to tell for a couple of reasons. Every year in men's hoops, 400-500 players switch schools, for various reasons. Last year we lost one of our best players, a freshman yet (Pat Birt). This year, one of our key recruits, a much-needed big, failed to qualify academically. The new recruits look pretty good on paper. But we cannot afford to lose any key people from this year's team. Odiase, a freshman, missed a bunch of games and is only playing limited minutes due to a previous injury, but is 2nd in the HL in blocked shots. Paris Burns is also key. If we lose anybody, it can't be these 2 guys.

I know he is streaky but in the last two games C Love is 3-14 shooting including 1-7 from 3. Before these two games he was 41.5% from the field and 33.9% from deep. Those numbers are now 40.5% and 32.7%. He usually takes 3 to 4 three point shots per game. So I think he hasn't stopped his normal shooting and it would be fair to assume he is due for a bounce back. As a fan base most of us have counted him out before and that is when he seems to respond.
I am not sure GB will win today, or in any of the 2 to 3 games they may need to win the horizon league tournament. I do know that they have 17 or 18 straight wins after a regular season loss. I don't believe anyone should count them out.

A report is out that Howard Moore has been fired at UIC. Record speaks for itself over the 5 years

would not surprise me if proven to be true. He will probably go back to Wisconsin to coach with Bo. Also, this shows me we made the right hire by going with Wardle over Gard.

UIC did the Badgers a huge favor when they hired Moore. He was a brutal recruiter for the Badgers. He was also a brutal coach for UIC. Great move for them to move on. This shouldn't be the last HL firing. WSU, YSU, and Milwaukee still need new blood. Milwaukee won't be able to make a move because of their money issues.

I think this will be the only change in the conference unless someone goes for a better job. As much as YSU should fire slocum I read that he is coming back. Donlon went though a rough year of injuries and the future looks fairly bright for Milwaukee.

Donlon went though a rough year of injuries and the future looks fairly bright for Milwaukee. Milwaukee's future will likely be just like their past, filled with suspensions of all kinds. WSU has regressed on a yearly basis. Their boring style kills recruiting. Plus, they've had a litany of off the court embarrassments during the Donlon era. He's killing their fan support.

I understand why Rob Jeter hangs on. While he certainly isn't my favorite in the league he usually keeps them relevant. I think HL fans deserve more but with the money he is owed I at least understand.
I would have a hard time believing Billy Donlon gets bounced. He has been competitive prior to this year. I don't think one bad year at this level gets a guy bounced but I agree with J there are red flags.
There are also red flags in Detroit. Tons of talent but no winning without Junior.
As for YSU, you are on the clock. What is taking so long to bounce Sloan??
