$2 beer night!?!?!? Uh oh, I might be in trouble. The guys in my section like a little loud mouth soup to heckle the other team and I kind of like to join in!
As for the game itself I would like to see McKinnie on Grady. I would like to see Love on Lewis. I would like to see Fouse and Mays come with strong double teams on Grady when he is in the post. We can't play him straight up if he is rolling like he was in the last game.
This is just another in the list of must win games that GB needs a big crowd to push them over the edge. Lets do this!

Will be at the game tonight but have to sit in a box as I got if for my daughter and her basketball team but will cheer on the Phoenix from there.
We definitely need a lively crowd tonight as the players feed off of that.

I never have a problem finding people to go to the game with me on Bud night for $2 beers. Hoping for a big, loud crowd of 5,000+.
Not sure how I feel about the 6:00 start time. Not a lot of time to get there after work, but I guess it's worth it to have it on ESPN2 and also have basically the rest of your Friday night to do stuff.
Depending on where you look, Vegas has GB as a 6 point favorite.

Green Bay doubled the post a few times versus Detroit, something they don't normally do. It worked well, and I'd guess they put that in to deal with Grady. He is playing phenomenal basketball right now.
If Keifer plays unselfishly like he did versus Detroit, I'll predict the offense rolls despite an outstanding CSU defense.

You wouldn't happen to sit in or around Section 209, would you? There are a couple guys behind me that scream for most of the game. They've had a few good lines, but for the most part, it's kind of obnoxious. At the last game, they were all over Juwan Howard, Jr.
If McKinnie is on Grady, he has to stay out of foul trouble. He tends to have issues with stopping his feet and lunging, which puts him in a bad spot. I wouldn't mind seeing Fouse on Lewis, with Love providing the doubles on Grady. I think Lewis would have issues with Fouse's length.

Well, the first thing I would say about this game would be that offensively, the team just isn't confident or good enough right now to be an NCAA tourney bound team. The second thing I would say is that I thought Cleveland State knocked down their FTs towards the end of the game, and the Phoenix didn't. Add on a pretty lucky desperation 3 pointer by CSU that was a shot in the heart, and Green Bay is unlikely to be repeating as regular season conference champs.
There's still time to get things together before post-season, but I don't blame anybody if they aren't optimistic as to how that might play out. Offensively, the only guy playing really well is Mays and even he has some pretty shaky turnovers at times. Hopefully, guys can get more hot and confident in the coming weeks, but there's not much time left to get it together.

Just laughably bad officiating. Chris Beaver is always in over his head, he just doesn't take the job seriously. Lamont Simpson is normally outstanding, but looked like he did this game coming off a 3 day bender. He just looked like death, and couldn't keep up to a game of this speed. Then there's Peter Juzenas. Pete simply blatantly works to determine the outcome of games, and has done it for years. How does he continue to be employed by the league? It simply ruins the game.

I didn't like the refs either in this one, but honestly, I didn't think that was the story of the game. 7-14 FTs, that was what I think really killed them. They hit a better percentage of those FTs and I think they legitimately may have won. They just are not a very good shooting team and it hurts them against better teams.
If there's one thing I take away as a positive, I really really like Daeshon Francis. In some ways, I wish he was on the floor more often even though he is raw. Before it's all said and done, I think he could be an excellent player to build on for the future. He too needs to work on his shooting though.

Great game guys that was an epic battle that could have gone either way. We had the luck tonight with that Lee long range 3 banked in. We had some tough losses this year losing by 2 at Valpo, 3 at Oakland and 1 at Detroit all in the final seconds so I thought you guys would pull this one out and add to the heart breaking loss list but you missed a FT when we were tied at 55 allowing this to get to OT where we just made a couple more plays than you guys.
Anything can still happen we have a very tough game at Milwaukee and if we win that a show down with Valpo for all the marbles but if you guys win out you get at worse the #3 seed and you will still be in good shape.
CSU has never won the #1 seed and hosted the conf tournament since the rule was put in 2003. If Forbes had stayed I really thought CSU could do great this year but losing Forbes was a huge blow to this team. Still a good team but Valpo and you guys are just as good and Oakland has done well too.
I think it's anyone's game still come tourney time.

If you're still on the Wardle/Lowe fanbus, you've crashed and burned. This season is done.

The season is not over. We can't rebound, we can't shoot, we have no big man and we have an idiot masquerading as a coach. What do you really expect from this team? Our best player right now is Mays, and his game is pretty one dimensional. Hell, the way we played against YSU, its not out of the question that we lose in the quarterfinals. There's being optimistic and there is being delusional. Believe it or not, I am usually pretty optimistic when it comes to this stuff, but this game, the YSU game and especially the Chicago State game have really left me with enormous doubts about this squad. If we can't come through in regular season crunch time, what makes you think that we can rattle off three straight wins on the road within a matter of six days or so and win a championship?

I think calling Wardle an idiot is a little harsh. He's not John Wooden, but I think he's a pretty good coach.
That said, while I understand why Wardle recruits the way he does, the fact is, when you have absolutely nobody on your roster that can shoot consistently from the outside, you have almost no chance to be great. This is a good team, but the limited offense they have keeps them from being something better. Wardle has to take the blame on that a bit as these are all his recruits, there's nobody left over from the Tod K era.
They could stand to be a little more patient and disciplined on offense, I think some of the impatience does come from the fact that nobody on the roster is a confident outside shooter. Love is probably the best shooter, but at best I'd call him an average outside shooter and frankly he's probably a tick below average due to below average height for a 2 guard. Shooting and free throws have been a weakness on the team that for the most part they've overcome, but when they're up against the very best competition, it can come back to bite them on occasion, and it did last night.

Honestly, I think it's unfair to let Wardle off the hook so easily by chalking it up to merely poor recruiting. While it is wildly questionable and to some, down right stupid to land athletic guards that can't shoot year after year while neglecting every other position, this is not the only root of our problems. Case in point last night. We were in the bonus late, and yes I recognize that we shoot free throws like 8 year old girls, but any coach should have told his guys to drive the lane and draw a foul, especially when the game was tied rather than settle for a mid range jumper! No it wasn't Wardle's fault that we got man handled on the glass and couldn't make a shot, put the "plays" he draws up to compensate for our lack of skill are pathetic. One of the most idiotic things I've seen in basketball was the "play" he drew up for Fouse to inbound to Mays to end regulation. If he was hoping for a foul, no player that would actually be on the court in crunch time would ever foul the prospective shooter. It ended up looking like a game of twister and it could have cost us the game in regulation. But enough about our joke of a coach. The fact of the matter is most of our guys have a serious skill deficiency. Aside from Lowe embarrassing himself as per usual in this one, McKinnie, Fouse and even Sykes made multiple key mistakes. I find it so strange that we can pull together against some teams and look unstoppable, like the Detroit game, and other times we go out there and play in such disarray like the YSU, Chicago state and this game. I really wish someone would take me up on my offer to tell me how they actually believe we can win the tournament? This team is a mess right now overall, and sure we will PROBABLY beat UIC, but in the grand scheme of things, that could realistically be our last win. If you can't shoot, rebound and lack a real coach, you aren't going to win games when they matter the most.
