Here's a preview and story from Rob Demevsky. Today's topic is the Buzz defense Wardle has adopted from the womens team. Another great example of Wardle's openmindedness. The Buzz has worked great since installing it. Only problem is that the man defense has suffered while they've installed it. Hopefully they get the man defense back to where it was earlier in the year. Last time we played Valpo, the defense struggled mightily untill we went to a 4 guard lineup. Since then Josh Humphrey has emerged as part of the rotation. His defense versus Broekoff will be the key to tonights game.

We need a win......BAD!!! Hopefully this will be a start of a late-season run by GB and climb a little in the standings. The opposite was true in the past several seasons where GB always fell off the wagon......

Thanks JJ Here is a good article from the Northwest Indiana Post-Tribune written by Mark Lazerus talking about Valpo's last trip to Green Bay and how big of a loss that was for the Crusaders a season ago

Just got back from watching a GREAT basketball game. GB 75 Vapo 60. Its been a long time since I've seen this much energy on the court for a full game. The 3 things they had been problems, game start, 2nd half start and finish were our strong suit. Maybe a 3-4 min. period mid first half was the only problem. But it wasn't from lack of effort but maybe trying to hard. Kam was on fire, BC, Alec, keep fighting the whole game. Humphrey's may not be a shooter(lol) but does he get them going and is fighting every second. Sykes did a good job running the offense. The bench came in a gave us quality minutes. A complete team effort. Last but not least Wardle coached his best game, switching, mixing and never letting Valpo in the game, at one point with 5-6 minutes left in the game we had 4 Frosh and a Soph on the floor. Now complaints, the officials were there usual "horrible" Alec could get hammered, no foul. Alec holds his hands up, doesn't move and foul. Homer I mean Bryce got a T and should have gotten 2. GB gets no respect or calls tonight from the officials!!!!! They did it all on there own. Just checked the box, only 6 turnovers. That's got to be the best by far this year. Congrats to all the GB players. Good luck Saturday, but if you play like tonight, I know who will win.

Terrific effort by the Phoenix. I bashed Wardle for too much zone after the road Valpo loss, he learned quick. They went man in all but 1 time in this one, and help Valpo's offensive machine to under 42% shooting. Here's Rob Demovsky's game story. Hopefully he's right about the team meeting after they were stuck in Youngstown becoming the season's turning point. It sure looked like it last night. Big props to Kam Cerroni. He isn't just hitting 3's, he has also improved dramatically defensively.

A very nice and much needed win for GB. Every time Valpo started to rally GB had an answer. Kam has never lacked confidence in his shot, last season he was taking them without ever making them. This year he has really found his groove. That said I agree his defense is his biggest improvement. It was really bad last year and not that great to start this year. He has worked very hard to contribute on that end.
Good energy from Humphrey. Not my favorite player but 9 boards is still pretty solid. He needs a little more confidence and refinement but he is almost able to get by guys on the penetration to the hoop. He's never going to be a great shooter but if he gets some slashing going then GB isn't playing 4 on 5 offense. For that matter Mays is in the same boat. He looks like a guy that used to get easy baskets in HS and is finding the defense is better at this level.
