The Phoenix take on D2 Michigan Tech Tuesday night. It will be interesting for a HS basketball fan like myself to see the local talent Tech has, including Waupon's Austin Armga, Seymour's Phil Romback, and Manitowac Roncali's Ben Stelzer.
Tech is solid for their level, but the Nix should roll in this one.

Here's Rob Demovsky's article and preview. Today's article goes in depth about Green Bay's early season preview. Well written, but I do have to take issue with this one part: The league has three teams in the top 100 — Cleveland State (10-1, RPI No. 38), Valparaiso (7-3, No. 74) and UWM (8-2, No. 92). The League has 3 other teams in the RPI top 100, Green Bay is at # 84.

Watched the game tonight. Hard to revue Tech hit alot of big 3 pointers and I counted 7+ missed layups by the Phoenix (at least 5 by the guards) in the 1st half. Tech and GB played very hard and Brown had his way in the 1st half. 2nd half Tech collasped its defense everytime Brown touched the ball and our guards made 75% of there layups. Brown made most of his 2nd half points in the final 3 min. Close untill the end but GB always seemed in control. They look like there learning to play together, I can see improvement from earlier games. Still to many turnovers, many unforced.

Good review JJ. Like you said, GB was in control, but Tech wouldn't go away. Lots of teams struggling with D2s this year.
Big night from Kiefer Sykes, his spin move was dominant, leading him to 18 points.
After a quality game against Marquette, Terry Johnson had a quiet night, just 2 points on 0-6 shooting from the floor.
Cerroni played 19 minutes but never got a shot off, he entered shooting 47% on 3s over his last 4 games.
No turnovers by GBs guards, all the turnovers were by the bigs.
I thought Tech's 2 big men were both impressive offense players.
Finals week, hope the young men take care of business in the classroom, as usual.

Sykes had his best game as a Phoenix. It looks to me that he is taller than 5' 10", he certainly plays taller. Any chance he is still growing? I understand he is a very young freshman.

I have not been the most patient with Keifer Sykes this year. I like what he can do but he just seemed to not be able to do it for long periods of time and I couldn't understand why Wardle gave him minutes that didn't seem to be earned. In this game Sykes was everything I could hope for. He put pressure on the defense with his driving to the rim, he didn't turn it over and played defense without fouling. More of the same please would be very helpful.
Alec Brown's timing on his shot blocks is really impressive, he took away several easy layups for the Huskies.
Those big guys (42 and 34) for the Huskies had really impressive offensive moves. Hojnacki had that move where he leaned in and then stepped back for a jumper that he couldn't miss and no player can stop. Those guys were easily D1 talents.
