any news on the lefty from Marshall? I see he is now listed as a recruit of the badgers along with LaChance, and T.J (GB offer already) for the WI 2014 class. Here an interview from NY2LASports with Cam Ward. No offer yet from the Phoenix, but Ward talks highly of Green Bay: Wisconsin-Green Bay is one of the schools highly interested in Ward, and the 6-2 guard was able to make a visit there this past summer.
"I really liked it there," Ward told NY2LASPORTS.COM Tuesday night. "I like Coach (Brian) Wardle. How he is with his players, how he's so energetic. That's what I like about Green Bay. "They were just telling me they like how I run and my decision making. They can see me playing the one or the two. They think I'm a lot like (Kam) Cerroni."Cam Ward seems to be pretty clutch. Another playoff buzzer beater

Cam Ward is clutch! Was at the regional final in Lake Mills where he worked his magic once again. Has been offered by Texas A&M Corpus Christi according to Mark Miller. I think GB is missing out here. Seems like a player who they are waiting out on and will not reel in. Shame, he is gonna be a great D1 player.

Germantown PG Lamonte Bearden mentions interest from Green Bay in this interview with NY2LASports. You can watch Bearden this weekend in the State Tournament. I've seen him a few times and have always liked the numerous different things he can do to help a team. Really long-armed and rangy, and is very active.

This should go a long way in satisfying those that want UWGB to recruit local players.

Gbbrl, Your zone concept question is interesting.
I am thinking BW is just too tempted by Cohen's huge upside and cannot pass on the opportunity. Very long, yet slender kid with a lot of skills. If he accepts, I hope it works out.

I hope so, because Cohen can't play a lick of man to man defense. He is good in Seymour's 1-3-1 zone though.

I don't know his game but I like his length as a SG. I assume they will find a way to make him play better defense. In my mind I want Deberry more because he plays with a chip on his shoulder and takes and makes big/tough shots. If Cohen is like Deberry he will be a good fit for GB.

"Does anyone like his game and think his style would fit at GB?"
Not really... he's pretty limited to just a catch and release guy.
I hate comparing players, but he reminds me of Dean Rondorf. If we can bring back Dean Vanderplas to set screens for him, I'm all for it!

I don’t know enough about Thomas or Jesperson to make an intelligent comment, but I won’t let that stop me. Thomas has had some success as a three point shooter at the D1 level and Jesperson was highly recruited out of high school. One thing I do know is that with the departure of Cerroni and Muhammad, Green Bay needs some three point shooters. Perhaps Botz can fill that void. In any case I can not imagine anyone committing until the investigation is complete. Even if Wardle is exonerated, some recruits are likely to be scared off.

Sandy Cohen has picked up an offer from Marquette. Must be playing very well in AAU ball.

Sandy Cohen has picked up an offer from Marquette. Must be playing very well in AAU ball. Even if Sandy chooses to play at another school, it would be great to see him play in front of the home fans at the Resch Center at least once. However, that won't happen if he chooses Marquette, because Buzz is too chicken to continue the GB/Marquette series. Too bad for Wisconsin hoops fans that Buzz doesn't have the balls to play the Phoenix again. That's seriously chicken shit. I also hope that if Sandy commits to Marquette, that he doesn't get Buzzcut before he even steps on campus like Buzz has done to so many others. Sandy is smart enough to rely on his terrific support staff to make an informed decision. He'll have some great options to choose from. He's really worked hard over the last year to put himself in this position.

These are some names of D1 guys who would be eligble in 2014.
Michael Orris is off the board. I know he was briefly discussed here and was a GB target in high school. He is going to Northern Illinois from Kansas State.
Not that I wanted to be looking for players from bad teams but NIU had two other names leave according to Jeff Goodman that GB fans might know.
Akeem Springs is a 6'3" SG. He fits the mold on paper but I believe he has bounced around a bit or at least committed to several schools in the past, that could be a red flag.
Sam Mader is 6'9" PF from Appleton. With all of our front court players I don't see a need but if he wanted to walk on and see what happens I wouldn't be against it.

Per Mark Miller's Twitter account: "Ex-Appleton East forward Sam Mader (6-9) is leaving Northern Illinois for NCAA Division II Lindenwood University, near St. Louis."
