LET'S GOOO!!!! GAME CHANGER!!! TIME TO BRING THE JUICE!!!
He ended up quitting this job. Sounds like a guy who burns hot and burns fast. He quit this job because his dream job opened up to go work at Wyoming where he is from.

Of course the first time I read a post in this thread naming Wicks I was not too pleased. He didn't align with my vision of ignite the future and what that campaign could mean for men's basketball.
However, I did my research last week and I changed my tune. I have no clue if GB is going to win any games but I am excited to see what Wicks does and how he is going to go about rebuilding this program. He brings a lot of things to the table that I do believe will work and that we haven't seen before or in a long time.
By his own account he isn't the greatest X&O coach so having a really good assistant or springing for one of those special assistant to the head coach positions would be really ideal to help him reach the highest level of success he is capable of.
Also, if he could grab that Wyoming pg in the portal from Peoria that would be great too!
Welcome Coach Wicks, I am excited to see what you can do!

Time will tell but as has been pointed out this hire is 180 degrees opposite on the personality and energy scale of likely the last two coaches. I'm guessing that's why this was the hire. Truly only one way to go from here.

His dream job was to be an assistant at Wyoming? I am skeptical. But I guess we will see how it works.

No matter who was hired, I was ready to have an open mind and get behind them. He wasn’t at the top of my list, but I’m also just relieved Gottlieb didn’t get the job. Regardless of how I view his resume, it feels nice to have a breathe of fresh air in the program after the previous 3 seasons. The work literally starts now though, as he likely needs to fill out a majority of the roster with new guys. I think he'll be able to retain some players, and I think there's a lot of underdeveloped talent in the Green Bay front court, and if he can retain the recruits, that will add some juice to the backcourt. He does need to add a PG though.

This is an interesting hire that I think might look sneaky good in a few seasons for you guys.

Bad example or good example but look at Dennis Gates. Guy is all about culture and he has done nothing but win. Give it time.

Really not in love with this choice. I guess I know nothing about him and hope I am wrong.
I had Brannan as top choice and Johnson as the next choice.

I’m very intrigued by the hire - along with the passion and enthusiasm of Coach Wicks. This is what it’s going to take to reignite the Phoenix faithful from the ash heap. Moon is betting his future AD jobs on Wicks, so I’m glad to see they both have skin in the game. On the other hand, hiring an ass-covering search firm was the usual waste of public dollars, as Josh only had to search his phone contacts. Best of luck to Coach Wicks - and go Phoenix!

Again search firms do more than search. They vet candidates in their network, conduct background checks, etc. All the enthusiasm isn’t going to matter unless they win.

With the finalists, there's so much we do not know. In the end you have to trust the people doing the screening and those with direct access to the candidates. From personal experience I can tell you there will always be curveballs all the way to the final hire. Finalists drop out, put you on hold and use you as leverage at their current or other perspective employer. Behind the scenes BS can put you in the fetal position. What fans see with Internet searches cannot give you the information needed to know the dynamics in a hire like this.
Moon knows Wicks, the hire is not based on the "good old boy network." Moon's career is on the line with his decision. He's clearly convinced this is the best option of the serious and willing job candidates.
