I don't think a comparison to Smith is unfair for Lowe. At least not from the tools perspective. They are the same size, both are long, both are very coordinated and both have a little shooting range to their game. I think Lowe will play with a bigger motor compared to Smith. Smith looked the part but except for one half against uwm never really showed it.
I also don't want Lowe to go to a Prep school. I think a guy like Lowe would be recruited by a bigger school then. Prep schools get more exposure and players are perceived as more college ready. I think schools that overlooked Lowe would see a different player in a year. It was amazing in my mind to beat New Mexico. I have a hard time believing that GB could do it a second time against potentially stiffer competition.

GB is a perfect fit for a player like Lowe. He'll get attention academically/athletically and not get lost in the shuffle. I've seen that happen so many times at those sport factory schools.
He's local and will have a good support network for his final year in high school. Having a teammate heading to the same college should also be a nice safety net.

GB, I probably should defer any analysis of Lowe to you, since I have only seen him 3-4 times, and you apparently see him quite a bit.
I don't name comparisons on boards, for obvious reasons. I only saw Smith the one year he was here. Coming from a very small HS, he obviously needed a red shirt year but TK wouldn't take that risk. I thought he had a solid upside, but when he was here, he had no bend to his game. I thought the plan was for him to get bigger/stronger and not split as much time on the perimeter, like Lowe will. I can't envision Smith grabbing a rebound and taking it full court and finishing. Or him defending anything less than a 4 (maybe bigger 3's) while I think Lowe physically could guard 2 thru 4's, and perhaps a PG with size (like a McCallum). I think Lowe's offensive game at a similar age, is more diverse than Smith's, but again, I have not seen much of Smith. I would think with 2 offseason's and confidence, he could be a force.

Mostly repeating what has been said but the thing I took away from what I've seen on his highlight videos was it looks like he has a real nice handle for a big and he doesn't shy away from contact. Uses the dribble well and has a surprisingly good crossover for a big. Will take it the length of the floor like someone mentioned. Then again, these are youtube clips from games that usually aren't very "organized" or defensive orientated, but I like what I see.
I've heard from a local college coach that he would almost surely will have to attend prep school , but he could perhaps be wrong. I'm hoping so, because I'm guessing we lose him if that's the route he has to go.

If Lowe does need to go to a prep school, which school he chooses will be a factor in keeping his commitment. If he attends St. Johns Military Academy Prep in Delafield I like our chances. The GB coaches could track him consistently, and they have a good relationship with the coaching staff there. GB already is a regular visitor there. All the credits from there transfer to Green Bay, as the classes taken there are through the UW system.
