There current walk ons are Ryan Wade and Zane Short my preference would be give a scholarship to Ryan Wade he has d1 starting experience can play defensively can shoot the ball. He has two years of eligibility then gone. Zane Short coming off a injury. Are they going to use the last scholarship right now? If they gave it to Wade or outside the team I agree like a Gavin McGrath.

I think that last scholarship was saved for Jeremy Lorenz. Now that he is one who will be their priority recruit? I just don't think that many guys will leave in the portal. We will see if the coaches can get loyalty from the players.

I think another good reason to hang onto that last scholarship is that you never know when a guy is going to become available.
Look at Damaria Franklin who decided to enter the transfer portal and leave UIC just last week, like a month before regular season practices start. Another example would be Sandy Cohen who came to UWGB during the second semester of the 2016/2017 season and had to sit a year.
Having that scholarship available is a nice carrot to dangle for a potential transfer who might join the program mid-season. Even if they can't play until next year they could at least still hypothetically be on scholarship right away.
Otherwise you just use it on a 2023 guy.
