Saturday at 6pm Kress Center ESPN+ 1400 the Fan
Superior lost by 6 to SNC, GB should thump them. They only shoot 25% from deep and average 62ppg. In fairness to them they might be a decent defensive team. They have allowed 60ppg on 39% FG and 20%3FG.
Get a win, stay healthy and get ready for conference play.

Build some confidence before conference.
So frustrating that we are playing a non D-1 team although. I don’t want to hear it’s hard to get a team to come up to Green Bay because of the holiday’s or because the packers are in town. It’s straight up lazy scheduling.

I don’t want to hear it’s hard to get a team to come up to Green Bay because of the holiday’s or because the packers are in town. It’s straight up lazy scheduling. It's not lazy scheduling, it's just a financial necessity. A super cheap buy games allows the team to take a big pay day against Kansas State or Minnesota, rather than a mid major home and home. Do I like it? No, but it's a financial necessity. Want this to end? Get more butts in the stands when conference play starts, and most importantly, rebuild the season ticket base.

A mid major home and home would do better for the team than a buy game at Minnesota/Kansas State.
Wins against other solid mid majors bring in more people to the seats than losing on the road to a power 5 team.
Happy Thanksgiving!

A win against a mid major doesn't put 50,000 more people in the seats. The money issue is real. Also, that's assuming you win against the mid major, and lose against the power 5 game. Green Bay beat Miami on the road several years ago. If they improve to the level I think this group is capable, that could become a reality again. Again, I don't like playing a non D1, but it's presently a necessity.

The schedule needs a couple hundred thousand dollars to fix.
They need to replace the buy game revenue and then buy home games in place of high major road games.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that if the university wanted to allocate money to this they absolutely could. This university is not broke.
Nobody has told the powers that be this is a problem that needs to be fixed asap. So guess what has happened? They haven't fixed it and don't know that it's a problem.
Instead people have told the powers that be of this university and much of the rest of the league that all that matters is the conference tournament. So here we sit, year after year watching the program and the league yell "iceberg straight ahead."
Fortunately between Ryan, Moon and Alexander they seem likely to grow ticket sales and donations.
Linc was a good guy to talk to but he wasn't a self promoter. That became a bad fit with Guthrie in charge. He knew how to cut financial corners without growing revenue. They operated outside of the public eye at a time when everyone else was catching up to or passing GB up. This makes it seem like money is a problem. However, that has no regard for the overall financial strength of the university.

Probably wrong thread but why not play the home and home with Northern Iowa this Saturday? They are headed to St. Bonaventure for more than likely a buy game.
If you remember, before COVID we had a home and home set up with them. Would of been a good couple of games.

If you remember, before COVID we had a home and home set up with them. Would of been a good couple of games. So give up a home game and play on the road? UNI isn't coming here first. You think UNI would rather do this than get paid in a buy game? Unlikely. Play both games in one season and give up a high major buy game? Now we're short of the budget. I totally agree it would be good games, but it might be best to start that next year from a competition stand point.

Hate playing non D1s like everyone else but this game comes at a good time. This team needs to see a little success albeit against a lower level opponent with a pair of winnable Horizon League games coming up. The timing of this game makes a whole lot of sense. Milwaukee is paying Alcorn State to play them on Sunday for a heck of a lot more money and a game like that in GB this time of year would not make a whole lot of difference in attendance. Someday I hope that the situation makes sense for GB to do something similar (with a better opponent than a SWAC school) but it just doesn't right now.

I believe the Northern Iowa series is off with GB deciding last year not to go to Cedar Rapids because of Covid concerns with UNI.
That series was one of convenience that I am not sure will be rescheduled because UNI doesn't need it.
It does seem Northern Illinois and Montana State did not return games. I'd love to know what happened with those games.

What was all this I heard about this being a GB cake-walk? Single digit game at halftime. Phoenix will probably win, but still, my god….

The announced crowd for this game was 1480. The only game I am aware of that has been played at the Resch with a smaller crowd is Oakland in 2020, with a crowd of 1232.
Nine of the ten smallest crowds in the past decade were assembled at the Kress Events Center. Five of those games were against Non D1 opponents.
The facts don't lie. Playing at the Kress, especially against Non D1 teams is more a part of the problem than it is a part of the solution. For anyone that deeply cares about this program they would unite on this topic and ask the program to stop shooting itself in the foot by playing in that building.
