I've seen Botz play numerous times. The player he reminds me of the most is his next head coach, Brian Wardle. Not great quickness but a terrific shooter who is wide-shouldered and strong, fearless, and has good size for the wing. Botz isn't as accomplished as Wardle was, but few are. As a suburban Chicago high schooler, Wardle was named City/Suburban Player of the Year. I'm sure when Wardle watches Botz he sees a lot of himself. I know a few Little Chute teachers who all rave about what a terrific young man Botz is. Definately a player who will continue the Green Bay way. Here's Rob Demovsky's story of the Botz commitment.

Here is the Appleton Post Cresent's Ricardo Arguello on the Botz commitment. We'll be linked to Arguello often this next year for Botz coverage, and he a very good writer. Little Chute has a number of very interesting games next year. They play Toby Hegner and Berlin twice, they play at the WBY Shootout inn Mequon versus East Troy and Whitefish Bay, and they host defending state champ Dominican, which includes Marquette recruit Duane Wilson and soon to be national recruit 6'9" Diamond Stone.

Stone has been a National recruit since last summer.
Botz reminds me more of Joel Mauel (with range) than a shooting guard. Am glad he committed first.
Can anyone gauge the Phoenix' interest in Cody Schwartz?
I can't seem to get a straight answer...... anyone know if they had any interest in Adam Beyer? Not sure he would have fit the grid, but am fairly certain he is going to get a pretty good offer soon.

Beating out South Dakota State, an up-and-coming program, is no easy feat.
Good pickup Nix

With the Joe reference you are going back to the Dave Buss Era. ; - )

Thanks, Joe Mauel is before my time. My phoenix fandom started Bennett's 1st year as coach. However, I think any comparison for Botz has to be to a top perimeter shooting. His 3 point shooting is his meal ticket at the D1 level. Here Mark Miller's story on the Botz commitment subscribers linkTime Warner Cable subscribers can still watch numerous Botz games that are available on channel 411 on-demand.

Turner was not with his Little Chute team in Kaukauna this morning. Apparently he is in a boot.... anyone know the extent of his injury?

Other than those that have been discussed, Ward, Hegner, Wichmann, Koch (who also is in a boot with an ankle sprain) I didn't see any other D-1 surprises. I didn't see Matt Heldt, the transfer from Appleton West to Neenah up close, but he is awfully long. Not real skilled, but could project out. There were a number of good D-2 and 3 prospects that are tracking well.
Lowe is rather intriguing. High energy, good athlete and leader. A bit of a tweener, with IMO, a big upside. Will be interesting to see if a D-1 school nibbles.

I have not watched Botz play yet so I have to reserve comment. I like the description of tough minded and shooter. I hope he is athltic/long enough to get a D1 shot off at his position. Being local is pretty cool to but not nearly as important to me as being a good player.

According to Mark Miller, Steve Alford offered Lowe this weekend. Good for him, good kid with a high ceiling.
