Nice game for Pipes, he was good everywhere.
GB got out in transition a lot but didn't score enough out of it. Missed dunks and layups are not going to work when everything is set up for getting those shots.
Kam and JayQuan probably needed better shot selection at times.
I thought Will did a nice job inside. That was his worst shooting game but his best game in other aspects.
UNM is big, athletic and talented. Yet GB never gave up and gave them a good game especially since the foul calls where not going GB's way. They got outshot at the line. UNM made 14 more ft's on 17 more attempts. Mix that in with the layup issue and losing by 15 seems close. Now it's a loss and not a moral victory. I just don't think they played terrible. They looked closer to this level and that is a good thing. Also, not having Tank is a concern. He is more needed in HL play but he would have helped last night.

This felt like a game gb should have escaped with a 2-3 point last second win but with poor coaching they get blown out. I’ve never seen a team miss so many wide open looks botch so many layups or dunks before in my life. This folding like a chair on the road thing under linc is getting old. Idk what coaching has to do with missing wide open looks, so at least try to critique Linc for something else in order to meet your quota. Overall, the silly turnovers and fouls are what really killed us. We could never really get on a sustained run because there would be a travel or phantom call to kill it. Couple that with the lobos making some really tough contested shots, and that’s a recipe to lose on the road. Plenty of season left and I think this team will remain competitive.

First we have to start off with Cody Scwartz not belonging on the court vs a solid opponent again. Dude was absolute garbage with 3 fouls right away. Was nice to see Will in there actually getting rebounds. Also, hunter Christ needs to be no where near the floor himself, hes just not good enough to play at this level, its nothing against him. The biggest problem though is the defense. I get Linc wants to play fast but the half court defense is just embarrassing. Zero communication, leaving guys wide open, guys standing straight up and down off the ball, and no one is even trapping anymore like he preaches. With defense like that its impossible to win consistently. The second they have an off shooting night, anyone can beat them.
In positive new, Amari Davis is gonna be one of the best players in school history. There's no reason he shouldn't be starting this year already.

New Mexico was big and athletic with all of the transfers that came in. Would not be surprised to see them beat someone like Wisconsin or Auburn in the main bracket of this event. GB had less turnovers but it seemed that every bad pass (Hankerson mainly) turned into a dunk for NM. GB forced turnovers and threw up bad shots in transitions. I thought the guys underneath battled despite all being in four trouble. There is 5-10 minutes a night for Will Chevalier on this team if Manny is in foul trouble. McCloud had a nice night hunting his shot. Amari Davis continues to impress, I sure hope GB can keep him around all four years.

The only place I disagree is I think last night showed Will is much more suited to be inside, helping out rebounding than Cody. Will should be getting more minutes, and Cody demoted to 5-10.

It was so promising to see the effort and the fight. The team never quit!!! Frustrating that the refs kind of took our big men out early they were playing with a purpose. Thought the on again and off again press to mix it up really forced the Lobos into some turnovers and quick shots. The Lobos have several high D1 transfers and even though score showed us getting beat by 16, this game was closer than that until last 3 and a half minutes.
Oh and I’m pretty sure it was the coaches who also coached to miss the dunks to.
As I have said before..... we are fans and we need to support our Phoenix. Hope the athletes and coaches don’t read this.

This team continues to go 1 on 3 or 1 on 4 when they force a turnover instead of kicking it back out. It is on the coaches when they continue to miss easy shots because they shouldn’t be doing one handed dunks if they can’t make them. Hankerson should have been benched after that. Don’t show off make the layup and take the points. I’m sick and tired of this program settling for average results and being satisfied with it. I can still support a team and be critical of them. I use my hard earned money to watch this team on tv and in person. If players and coaches can’t handle criticism while getting a free ride and compensated to play and be apart of a game they love they are too soft. I’m at the point where anytime they play someone good on the road in on the road in general I’m just waiting for the huge run that turns a 5 point game into a 15 point game in the blink of an eye. It’s like clockwork with this team.

That’s clear when he plays people like hunter Christ.

People are all entitled to their point of view. I'm surprised with the negativity towards Cody that little has been said about McNair. He has 8 fouls in 29 minutes against D1 teams with only 5 points and 5 rebounds. One guy is public enemy #1 and one gets a total pass. Is that fair?
Hunter did draw contact on both travel calls. If UNM got the same contact it would have been a foul.
All of these guys bring something to the D1 table. They have to be put in spots to maximize their contribution.

I try not to get on the players for the poor performance because over the last 5 years it doesn’t matter which players we have, the games are still lost the same way. Turnovers, lack of rebounding, poor shooting, poor free throw shooting, and don’t defend the three point line well
I would rather our team be good than lucky. For us to win we have to be lucky and Coach Darner has even said that himself.
I know it’s way early but if this team finishes below 3rd in the horizon league I will be very disappointed. But hey if Coach Darner finishes 4th he is rewarded so why shoot any higher than that?

Well said, dif players the same results. Unless more Sykes/Browns/ Mckinnies come to GB, what you see is what you get. Right now in this conference GB needs to out recruit N. Kentucky, Oakland and Wright State. This does not appear to be happening although Amari may turn out to be a Sykes.
