Lets hope the guys are ready to play on the big stage come Wednesday night. Coach Darner gets to go back to his Alma Mater to which is pretty darn cool.
Would like to see a couple things (fingers crossed, Ill get to watch).
1. Want to see how this team rebounds, were beaten terribly by St. Norbert (No disrespect)
2. I know its just one game, but want to see how Trevian Bell plays against this competition. He seems to really have taken off, anxious to see how he fairs.
3. Lastly, want to see this team not go on any huge slides. Seems like in the past, the opposing team would go on a 10 + run sometime in the game and then we would fade. Especially on the road. For us to be competitive at the top of the Horizon, we have to figure out how to play games on the road. Doesnt have to be pretty, just get the result and move on.
Lets go Phoenix!

I don't have expectations for this game. Playing Purdue is a tough early season task. My hope is they play together, play to their strengths and come out of this game healthy and more experienced than they came into it. Would a win be awesome? Obviously. However, a butt kicking doesn't end the season.
With that said I will still be complaining about every blown call and I will still be hanging on every possession. It is a Green Bay game day and as a fan I want it to be tip time ASAP!!!!!!!!

Who else is excited to watch Cody Scwhartz play 15 more min than he ever should and just get bullied around in the paint?

Who else is excited to watch Cody Scwhartz play 15 more min than he ever should and just get bullied around in the paint? I think Cody should play, I think they play him out of position which isn't a good look for him. He shouldn't be asked to play defense inside. He should be on the court with Manny or Will so that they can body up inside while Cody plays a perimeter role. Getting pushed around inside seems to impact his offensive consistency. GB is going to need a solid season from Cody, like it or not😀

Bart Torvik is predicting Purdue by 19 and gives GB a 5% chance.
KenPom says Purdue by 24 and gives GB a 2% chance and Vegas basically agrees with the line at 23 right now
It'll be an interesting clash of styles with GB obviously looking to push the tempo while Purdue plays a pretty typically slow Big Ten style.
Either way, it's great to have Green Bay basketball back and being able to watch it on national TV makes it even better.

How do we think they try to stop Haarms down low? (Hopefully not with Cody) Heard they struggled to feed the post in their exhibition but GB seems to foul every big they play. Neutralizing the size advantage would be huge.

Tonight's game will be a good test to see how the team stacks up this year, but if they don't play with the same defensive intensity they did in the CITI tournament this will be another average season. If they don't share the basketball this will be an average season and they will get blown out tonight. They do have a former Wisconsin defensive player of the year that walked on this year don't they. Why not give him a chance. You don't need 5 players to score points, but you do need 1 player that can play defense. Besides he had a great teacher. Just a thought.

He just needs to be more consistent game in and game out. His game is not to be down low and get pushed around, that is on Coach Darner and his staff to make sure he plays more to his strengths then weaknesses.

I think its a little too much to ask a walk on freshman to play a part against a Big Ten team. Maybe down the road but def not tonight. Yes our defensive intensity really picked up towards the end of the year, and that started when we stopped picking up full court. Therefore, curious to see if Linc Darner continues with that. All I ask is be competitive on the road, dont give up big stretches of points and rebound the damn basketball! All things that Linc's team have struggled with in the past, maybe this is the year we can get one or two of those things fixed. If so, then watch out!

We need to rebound to win games and that's never happened under Linc. I mean as long as we have 6' 7" guys like Cody playing at center rebounding will be a problem. SNC was causing problems on the boards against them and now we have to face 7' 3" Haarms. Maybe one day Linc will recruit a guy with some actual size so this isn't a problem, but then again he probably needs another 6' 6" from JUCO instead like usual.

I am no coach but its gotta be pretty tough to recruit big guys at the mid major level. Maybe take on a project and be patient on development, then by their junior or senior year they are ready to contribute. I go back and forth about my feelings about all the JUCO recuiting Linc has done. I like it because it keeps us competitive at the top half of the standings, but at the same time it hasnt gotten us in the top two just yet. I expect and want more from the Nix.

If they can keep it within 15, I’ll be happy. If they want to keep it competitive, they’re going to have to shoot lights out, because Purdue is going to put up a ton of points. But the season is finally here and we’re playing on National television, so I’m not complaining. Go Phoenix!

Official prediction for the game: Purdue 98 Green Bay 81. Tre Bell 22 pts, McCloud 14pts and Amari Davis 16 pts all shine. Just are going to have no answer for the size of Purdue down low and on the glass. Might be a loss but at least we are playing actual basketball teams unlike the nonconference schedule of Wright State backed by Loudon Love's new cornrows.
