I think this guy would score 1000+ points in his GB career and be a fan favorite. I hope he is still in the mix now that they only have one scholarship left.

Yes very curious to know if he is still in the mix. I would think he has to be since he was just offered 5 days ago. Hopefully we will see a committment soon.

scoopmantv.com/2019/10/25/ryan-claflin-nearing-a-decision/A decision is coming soon, D1 in his backyard has to be the choice from these 4 schools, right? He can always go D2 if he isn't happy, very hard to go the other way. Not to mention he would thrive in GB's system once he gets a little more muscle on. This is the guy I want to take the last spot.

So this gets interesting, what if Gohlston commits before Ryan? Makes you wonder if we have an extra scholarship out there OR if they are offering a Ryan a walk on spot next year and then putting him on scholarship the following year. Kind of what Wardle did with Cody Wichmann, although he turned it down and went onto MKE instead

This is great news.
Venci is reporting it is a 4 for 5 year opportunity as he is paying his own way and sitting before playing as a redshirt freshman on scholarship in 2021.

....OR if they are offering a Ryan a walk on spot next year and then putting him on scholarship the following year. Kind of what Wardle did with Cody Wichmann, although he turned it down and went onto MKE instead It sounds like this will be the case. According to Evan Flood of Prep Hoops Wisconsin it is a “grayshirt” offer which is a football term, but I took that to mean a 5 for 4 deal where he walks on next season and redshirts and then will be on scholarship for 4 years. With this year apparently not counting against eligibility there would be no reason not to suit up and play. He can get the experience of game day, learn the routine of school and travel and still keeping his best years in front of him.
Plus with Williams out and Moore/Ansong potentially waiting on waivers it is likely the walk on players could receive more minutes than in a normal year.
